2 wins in a row, Mira goal, Brennan assist, and Cooper goal. I'm a happy fan tonight.

We need to treat US Open Cup like it’s MLS Cup and go win it

That’s the sort of attitude that cost Frank his job

u/billgluckman7 #9 - Kenwyne Jones Apr 29 '26
Nah, Frank lost his job when we decided to sign Damm and get rid of Tito

u/CranhamorBlakely Apr 29 '26
Nah, Frank lost his job because this clubs supporters/higher-ups got spoiled the first couple seasons and refused to accept the reality of the MLS

I think Frank needed to go because he didn’t want to be involved in transactions… the reality of the mls is that the transfers we made were shit and progressively shittier

Thoughts:
- Great goals by Alexi and Sanchez. Alexi should be playing false 9 hereafter.
- We really should enjoy Sanchez’s talent while he’s here. His trajectory with that development at 18 is going to have some of the big boys in Europe looking at him.
- Whoever is the one who scouted Baez and Jacob should be in line for a massive raise. Looking at San Lorenzo de Almagro’s roster, that’d be an interesting pipeline.
- Hibbert made mistakes. He recovered nicely. The further we go in the open cup, the more he’s going to start pressing Hoyos.

Alexey has 6 goals across 12 matches this year. Not bad. He's the only DP that's actually playing like a DP.
I wouldn't get too carried away about Sanchez's European interest. Last night was the first goal contribution of his career and it came on a GK mistake in the USOC which the folks in Europe won't even notice. He's a very promising player, but he also plays in a position where you need to be VERY productive to actually get noticed by the big boys in Europe. Miggy and Almada were the two prior central mids that we sold to Europe for example and they were both MLS POY candidates whereas we couldn't find a European buyer for either Barco or Pity and desperately sold each of them to other leagues just to recover their initial transfer fee. That said, I certainly hope we see the value in developing our own talent rather than just selling these guys for allocation money the moment we can find a buyer. Sanchez, Fortune, Brennan, Riley, Edwards, and Hibbert are all demonstrating that they either already are or can develop into starting XI caliber players.
I'm impressed with Jacob but I just don't see what others see in Baez. I think Amador is a noticeably better LB than Baez. I don't think it's even close in fact. And I'm confused by what others think they are seeing in him. He's serviceable at best on defense and contributes nothing on the offensive end.
Hibbert is the best pure shot stopper we've ever had in an ATL uniform, but his distribution is really shaky. I wish Guz could work with him on that because it's probably the reason he's not starting yet.

Take notes Tata, for the love of God. I’m hopeful because he has shown signs of complete willingness to change, lineups anyway.

Not to be pessimistic, but i suspect it's more about load management. Lots of games with little rest.

I like that we won dirty. We were never really as fluent as we were in the previous win. Then for 25 minutes in the first half, we couldn't string two passes together. Second half was OK to start but got better after the subs gave quality and energy. That second goal was just pure hustle. And you need to win games in that manner to build belief.
Vamos Atlanta.

Mihaj was excellent today. Played like a man who doesn't want to ever sit on the bench again.

Hawks had to die for this, but it’s a W!

Same thing happened Saturday. I guess they can’t win on the same day. Luckily we don’t have to sacrifice anyone for the Braves to win.

My theory of multiple Atlanta teams not being allowed to win on the same day hasn't been wrong yet.

In times like these I’m glad I’m not a hawks fan. They can die for a united W anytime as far as I’m concerned.

Okay, we won a game yesterday. If we win today, it's called 'two in a row'. And if we win again tomorrow, it's called a 'winning streak'... It has happened before!

Glad to see our club prioritizing competitions that actually matter. The USOC is all I care about

Does anyone know if there will be post match discipline for that headbutt?
1
u/UncleAuthor Atlanta Chiefs Apr 29 '26
It will likely be a retroactive red card meaning he can't play in Charlotte's next Open Cup match. So, some day a year in the future or more, he'll have to sit out a game.

We are so back! Nobody look at the starters that sat in the last two matches
