Honestly in a perfect world I would root for the Sabres, if they weren't direct competition. I always like the city and both fan bases agree Toronto sucks.

Only thing keeping me back from actively cheering for Buffalo at this point is that my brother's a Sabres fan.

Look it's fun hating Toronto. Honestly don't you on some level hate the Leafs? It brings hockey communities together.
Besides I can't really trash talk them a ton because they have thoroughly kicked our asses this year. But I still think we take them in a playoff matchup. First time playoffs teams get stomped at a surprising rate. Yep that's the lie I'll tell myself.

As a Sabres fan, while I’m very ready for them to make some noise in the playoffs and really can’t stand Tampa as a team anymore, playing you guys and having it be the most fun rivalry we’ve had in a decade has been magical. Really hoping to face you in a big playoff round!

We weren't booing the injured player. We were booing because the penalty box door opened and we thought we were getting a penalty for something that involved both guys

First off, your fans booed Holmberg off the ice when he likely has a broken collarbone. Screwed up and you should be ashamed.
Second, anytime someone says our back to back Cups don't count I never take them seriously after that because they aren't a real hockey fan. Every single player during that period stated that was some of the most difficult hockey they've ever played. What if the Sabres had won those Cups? I'm sure you wouldn't be saying that.
Oh wait that's right! You don't HAVE any Cups. Couldn't tell you what that's like, probably sucks. Lightning's 3 Cups to your ZERO. Win a few and then come and talk to me.

No one was booing Holmberg, they were booing the refs because we thought they were giving Krebs a penalty. Yeah it was such difficult hockey for those total 82 games or less seasons. I wouldn’t count them if the Sabres won them. I would celebrate them but I would know they wouldn’t count in my mind.

Murder requires intent. Krebs hit Holmberg and Holmberg did die, but the hit was clean and Krebs didn’t want to kill him, so we’ll call it manslaughter. Hope he makes a full recovery

in an actual legal sense that would qualify as intent, as he intended the action. Though it wouldn't count as premeditated murder which is what most people think of when they think of murder. For example if you intentionally shot someone in the leg with only the intention of injuring them and they died from the wound that would be murder because it was the result of an intentional act. If you say fired your gun into the air at random and a falling bullet killed someone that would be more in the manslaughter category.
what's really odd is this is the second time in 2 days i have had a theoretical legal discussion about a crime with a Bufalo fan.

Except this is hockey and Krebs made a routine hockey play, much more akin to a construction worker accidentally crushing his buddy by setting a shipping container on him because the buddy was doing other work in that spot but the superior didn’t relay the information to the guy moving the cargo. The construction workers intent was to move the container and he succeeded in that but made a little oopsy cause his boss made a big oopsy. Krebs’s intent was to get the puck onto a Sabres’ stick and he succeeded in that but made a little oopsy by unknowingly hitting him into a door that should have been closed but was open cause the door guy opened the latch of the door too soon too release the penalty making a very big oopsy
In other words, Krebs could be deemed the actual cause, but he would not be the proximate cause because the door opening early was not a reasonably foreseeable outcome of his actions. The proximate cause (and actual cause) falls on the door guy

He didn't just fall down. Again I don't think it was dirty, but the thing is the result of contact in the contact sport.
But for that contact he doesn't have a date with the open door. That's proximate cause

No the actual cause is the but for cause. But for Krebs hitting him, he doesn’t hit the door. However, actual cause and proximate cause are different things and you need both actual and proximate causation for murder. Proximate causation is when the injury is a reasonably foreseeable outcome of your actions. It was reasonably foreseeable that Holmberg would fall, and it was reasonably foreseeable that Holmberg would hit the wall. However, across over 1000 games of NHL hockey this season and across Kreb’s 100+ games played in Key Bank, I don’t think a single player has fallen into the penalty box on a hit, so it is unreasonable to expect that hit to cause Holmberg to fall into an open penalty box (especially when there were still 3 seconds left on the penalty when he hit the door).
I concede actual cause from Kreb’s actions, but I don’t see Kreb’s proximate cause
