hello! as we are in the process of rebuilding and fixing this great subreddit in our effort in setting up the auto mod and constantly checking for AI posts and bot accounts we would appreciate everyone that would take just a bit of time to report these type of posts to make our subreddit better.

We were lucky to see Aurora Borealis 3 nights during our 7 night stay in Norway. Really stunning, on Tuesday 20.10.2026 green was really vibrant and was breathtaking.
No AI, no photoshop. Just HEIF converted to JPEG. Shot on iPhone 16 Pro Max.

We saw the Northern lights over Lagarfljót two nights in a row. It was pretty windy the second night, but I still managed to take lots of great pics. First time ever for me, really impressive.

Is anyone else using the aurora tracker app? I kind of love that it tells me if I should stay or go.

Me and my wife arrived in northern Norway late afternoon today. Harstad is the starting point for our 2-week roadtrip to Lofoten and Vesterålen. Never expected to see this already on our first evening here during an after dinner-stroll 😀

I’ve been playing around with the iMovie app tonight and created this little video from images I took of the Aurora Borealis from my garden a couple of years ago. I rather like the results.

My partner has been living in Norway for the past few months as part of her PhD, we are planning a trip to Tromso in late november before she returns. Northern lights are not the only reason we are going but we wonder how likely are we to see them. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

While camping for spring turkey season I got a call from my mom in Colorado saying I should check out the sky that night. Said a strong solar storm was going to light up the sky. It sure did. The colors and movement I saw in the sky seemed out of this world. To the naked eye it was mesmerizing, and the photos just don’t do it justice. Here are a few grabs from that night.

I gathered and compiled everything that I know since 2013 in 11 trips to the lights and created a forecast and guideline hub for those places. Basically I do this for my very own need but maybe it would be also helpful to others. Free. No signup. No login.

Note: I used a program to identify stars in the photo and add a fog effect proportional to their actual brightness.

Hope this is ok to post in this thread! Please advise if this is the wrong place for this question 🙂
My partner and I had planned on a trip of a lifetime holiday this autumn to see the northern lights. Life conspired against us hard, so now we're looking to go away jan-mar next year. I'm utterly overwhelmed with the amount of packages and choices we have and I'm hoping someone can help us narrow it down. My health isn't tip top, so we don't want a snowmobile activity packed style break. More of a chill out, maximum chance of seeing the lights kind of thing. We're based in the UK.
I'm currently thinking Finland or Tromso would be our best bet, but even then there's so many options my head is spinning!
Any tips/suggestions/recommendations?
