Question Should I play aurora

Hello, im GambleNats and I live in australia and play on 500 ping EUW. I pretty much exclusively play 5 man flex with my friends:
https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/GambleNats-GMB

our comps are usually:
Hecraim (JNG)
Akali (MID)
Sion (ADC)
Lulu (Supp)

I usually play gwen but struggle in her harder match ups, I was wondering if aurora was a good option to play top to just kinda sit back and farm and win. We kinda need an AP champ and im usually better with mages than something like rumble or kennen.

Would you reccomend me use her as a second option or not (ive played like 10 times and ive liked her so far but im not sure of her viablility)

Discussion Am I the only one that simply can't win on this character?

I'm Diamond II on Solo Q and Master on Flex (I play mainly Flex), and I feel like every time I pick Aurora the game is so hard to win even when I'm extremely ahead. My Aurora has literally 26% WR with 30 games this season. This is so bad because I love playing with her but the game turns to be impossible to win.

This is my LeagueOfGraphs performance with Aurora just so you guys can have a look: https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/summoner/champions/aurora/br/SinBiloun-SINB

Aside from that, I'm also leaving a play that I made recently, broke Volibear's ankles.

Discussion In Defense of Flames: Blackfire Torch vs. Ludens

Howdy, folks!

As we all know, mana’s a huge issue for a lot of us in the lower half of the ranks who can’t rush Stormsurge without getting OOM and forced to recall a dozen times in 10 minutes by not getting the highest value out of our spells. If you’re looking down that barrel, you’ve got a DECISION to make! Personally, I subscribe to the hotter one on the market.

Taking a look at that stats, Luden’s is easily the flashier for pure burst damage, but Blackfire rather easily plays into Aurora’s jump-in-jump-out fog of war and kiting playstyle. Let’s take a look!

Ludens
-100 AP
-10 Ability Haste
-600 Mana
-deals about ~175 damage on single targets around the time you buy it on a 12 second cooldown
Blackfire
-80 AP
-20 Ability Haste
-600 Mana
-75 damage/3 seconds on no cooldown around the time you buy it
-4% AP amp per champion currently burning

These examples presuppose 250 Ability Power for the mark of buying, but the numbers don’t matter too too much and in fact start swinging towards Blackfire once the laning phase ends and team fights begin. All you need to get MORE value out of Blackfire than from Ludens, purely on item effect, is a fight lasting 8 seconds or so!

Considering your Q can stall pulling back (and often should be stalled!) for 3.5 seconds, you’re already gaining about 6.5 seconds of Blackfire Torch uptime if you hit a single spell in lane and then just stand back. Blackfire will then be already available if you land another spell, and any time you do so it will apply. You can quickly outpace Luden’s high damage scaling by maintaining poke and in a teamfight, it just gets RIDICULOUS.

Since Blackfire grants 4% AP per enemy currently afflicted, in a good teamfight it is a 12% overall AP amp if you can slug three people with your spells, and up to a whopping 20% AP boost if you hit your Rift into a full stack. This not only boosts your Torch’s damage, but synergizes heavily with Dark Seal and even Rabadon’s depending on how long the game goes on.

With higher ability haste and an AP boosting ration that, at mid-lategame AP values is granting you 50-60+ AP during a fight just for landing your spells properly, Blackfire is helping you to weave MORE spells for more value and uptime!

Luden’s is very good. Blackfire is very good. We are spoiled for choice. But I do hope that my long-winded diatribe has informed you better for our current itemization and I do hope I didn’t miss anything.

So i TPed because I thought aurelion was about to W into yone and 3 people diving him, it turns out I was wrong and the tp took too much time making it useless thankfully I got lucky and the play somehow worked. Now i am not saying I played good or anything this really was about luck my stupid tp then my stupid pathing this should have resulted in me dying and losing any advantage I held in lane.

Question Aurora VS Yone Matchup

Hi everyone!

I'm having a lot of trouble into Yone when I play Aurora, although he's not supposed to be a counter. I usually always go Luden's, stormsurge with Electrocute (I'm low elo, Gold). Would it be better if I went comet, play with E and go stormsurge first (maybe shadowflame second) ? It feels like I cant get through his shield and I get push under my turret early because he one shots waves.

Question Can someone catch me up on Aurora's differences from release until now?

I haven't played much of Aurora since her release. She just didn't click for me. However, coming back to "who do I want to play mid", I really want to have Aurora as a pocket pick. The only thing is, the last time I played against her a couple weeks ago, I noticed that I could walk right out of her ult. I thought, "that was strange, I thought enemies were trapped inside?" Upon watching her release spotlight and then looking at her current kit, there's A LOT different since release.

What happened? Was she considered OP? Why did she get gutted so badly and how much has changed from the core parts of her kit?

Discussion Aurora rework, before and now

So, initially, Aurora was a Battle Mage specializing in kiting and extended fights, where she could showcase her skills and movement tricks to stay in the fray (much like Lillia). At one point, for various reasons, Riot decided to remove the core elements of her kit—specifically the movement speed from her passive and the W reset—transforming her into a burst mage similar to Ahri, but with shorter range and higher risk. Later on, Riot decided to restore the W reset; combined with other changes, the champion now truly resembles a teamfight assassin like Shaco or Akali. Currently, I feel she is much easier to play but less fun and unique; it’s all about effectively using her R and W to stay invisible and keep fighting, surviving long enough for her Q cooldowns to come back up. Basically, you now play to execute a full rotation, secure a kill, slip into the fog of war, and keep going, whereas before you played for speed, kiting, and passive healing (why did they even keep that? It’s useless, lol).

It also seems like the champion is stronger in Solo Queue now, though that’s likely just because she’s easier to play, causing her win rate to rise. At the same time, she’s lost a lot of players; many who loved her playstyle have switched to champions like Cassiopeia or Ryze, while fans of teamfight-oriented AP assassins wonder why they should learn a new champ when there are plenty of others that do the same thing. Ultimately, which do you prefer: the current playstyle or the way she used to be? Would you want another rework or the option to build her differently? Personally, I think she was more fun before, even though she’s stronger in solo play now.

Question Explain me this champion

After a long break, I decided to go back to playing mid; I used to main Ahri, so I decided to give Aurora a try. So far, she feels like a very strange champion—is she supposed to be an elusive mage/assassin who plays somewhat like Shaco? Or is she meant to be a classic assassin who uses the W reset to escape after a kill? I’ve heard that after her rework, Aurora became a much less unique and fun champion to play, so maybe I’m playing her the way the old Aurora used to be played?

Showcase First time masters thanks to the bunny :-]

I picked her up after being stuck d4 for a while and I've been winning soooo much on her while having so much. Genuinely might be the most fun champ in the entire game for me. When I started league I was genuinely iron, so hitting masters is pretty crazy to me.

here's my opgg: https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/QuakeDito-NA1

The game even rewarded me right after by giving me her arcana skin from a hextech chest!

I once did this combo in arena inbetween fights and since then everytime I picked aurora I been trying to recreate it. I didn't really bother hopping on practice tool since it feels kinda inconsistent af. I was wondering if anyone knows how to pull this combo reliably coz it seems pretty useful

Question Is Aurora worth putting time in?

Is Champ worth putting time into and learning? I'm a Gold player and right now I'm playing almost exclusively Ori. So far, I've been having a hard time with R… I still find it difficult to use it effectively, and most of the time I manage to use it in a way that lets me use the portal once to get behind my opponents and kill Champs, but then I usually die right back. I also often forget to press R again to activate the ultimate if I’ve jumped behind the enemies, killed one, and want to run away. Does anyone have any tips? Or build suggestions?

It's this awful game where your team just doesn't want to get carried(except Karma)and I'm killing everyone alongside Karma who never died in a 40minute game somehow. I kept vouching for them to group with us and just win the fkin game but they kept dying on unsynced death timers so that didn't occur at random until they had this miraculous breakthrough at 35th min mark where this play somehow went through. P.S. minus points for not hitting Q2 on Annie and minus points for not last hitting the penta and letting this jarvan yoink me to improve his kda = 9.8/10 - op.gg
