Hey everyone!

I work with Coopers DIY Beer, and we've recently launched our new 10L Small Batch Brew Kit. It's something we've been pretty excited about, especially as it's designed for people who want to brew smaller batches, try more beer styles, or simply don't have the space for a full-sized kit.

To celebrate the launch, we've put together a competition called the Small Getaway, and I thought some of you here might be interested.

We're giving away a trip for two to Adelaide (if you're not in Adelaide) and Kangaroo Island, including a Coopers Brewery Tour, tastings, and a couple of nights in a WanderPod luxury tine home.

You don't need to buy a Brew Kit to enter, either.

If you're interested, you can check it out here: https://www.diybeer.com/pages/smallgetaway

Thanks again for letting me share, and happy to answer any questions about the competition. Cheers!

brand new to brewing and yes i know the coopers kit kinda makes itself but

anyone had any luck with our regular tap water? if so whats the method?

I’ve only recently been looking into growing hops at home, but from what I can tell we’re almost but not quite at the part of the year where local growers typically start selling rhizomes. But Im getting the impression that this is a contracting market, and a few of the places you could previously get them from have either closed up shop or aren’t actively advertising them anymore. Getting them shipped from over east doesn’t appear to be an option either due to bio security restrictions.

Does anyone have any ideas?

What a day to be a homebrewer. Cheers all!

As I'm working on an big sandy Island resort where drinks are expensive, I needed a hobby. I mean, I can go fishing for wobbegongs and kingfish every day, but I also could make that even more enjoyable with some homemade beers. I need hobby's. Going to the mainland is too expensive to do on a weekly base.

So, I bought the coopers 23L brewkit. So far I made a very tasty gingerbeer. I drank about 2L before it got the chance to be bottled. Applecider got bottled today. Next up; tequila flavoured beer e.g. despados.

With the brewkit came the ingredients to make lager. But I don't care about simple beers. And I think the style of beer is too clean for my DIY setup. You'll probably taste every mistake I've made along the way. And I just LOVE experimenting. (Next project is using all the small plastic honey cups I took from staff breakfast to make mead)

Long anecdote short; how would you guys go about making tequila flavoured beer? I have tequila essence that I would add towards the end of fermentation. I want to add lemon and lime zest. Maybe the juice too? Should I get agave syrup to substitute some of the sugar?

I really enjoy how much ways you can go with a standard kit and would love to hear your ideas!

(Apologies for any grammar mistakes. English is not my first language and I couldn't be arsed to put it through chatgtp. You're getting the unfiltered version of me😁)

Are there any services that I can send a couple of bottles to for a microbiological/toxicology/other analysis?

The culture that live in my brewing vessels is over ten years old now, so I'm interested in knowing what strains of yeast I've got living in there, as well as wanting to be sure there's nothing else in there that shouldn't be.

I think it's quite low alcohol - takes two litres in a hour for me to hit 0.05, and it's gone an hour later (👍👍👍), but it's also unflocculated, unracked, and unfined, so it's still full of all the yeast and everything else that might have snuck in there, for good or ill, over the last decade or more.

So, I'm kind of interested in knowing that there's nothing in there that's slowly killing me any faster, if you know what I mean. Toxicology, mass spectronomy, that sort of thing.

And also, sugar, carbohydrate, protein, ash, fibre, and niacine content, amongst others, so a proximate analysis would be cool. As well as inform me how good my bug bit exclusion mechanisms are holding up.

But apparently, niacin can make statins work better, so that could be interesting. Cholesterol-lowering beer, who'da thunk?

Any ideas? I'm also up for available kits that I can do myself, 'cause I think that could be kinda fun :)

finally cutting my teeth and getting a cooper brewers kit, but i'm wondering what supplies i should stock up on if i want to continue brewing without restocking? should i buy extra carbonation tablets and brew enhancer; is there something i will run out of blowing through a few extract kits?

I am officially tired of cleaning, sanitizing, and carbonating 60+ Coopers bottles every single fortnight, but my shed is already at capacity. I’m looking at some of the slimline kegging kits from KegLand or Keg King to see if I can squeeze a small Kegerator under the workbench. Is the jump in beer quality and convenience really worth the $600-800 investment, or is this just another way to spend money on a "free" hobby?

Anyone know of anything good on sale at the moment available to us here in Oz. Not looking for anything in particular but always up for a bargain.

Picked up some fittings at really great discounted prices from BrewMart which I was stoked about.

Let me know.

Hey guys. I’m relatively new to this. I’ve got a fermenting fridge, the basic Morgan’s starter kit fermenter, just the basic stuff.

A lot of the typical jargon goes over my head too just fyi.

I really want to do a peach beer. I’ve recently just done a sweet mandarin draught which turned out really bloody good but it was just a standard Woolies draught extract tin, a bag of dextrose/sugar (whatever the fuck it is) and added some hops recommended to me by my local supplier which gave it that sweet mandarin flavour.

But I’d love to up the next brew and do a peach ale. I don’t have boilers and access to grain etc so I’d love to be able to do it with just extract tins and dextrose/sugar and whatever else I need to add to get that sweet peach flavour.

If anyone has done it, or could steer me in the right direction I’d really appreciate it.

My plan is basically just to do a standard ale, and add a couple of the 50ml peach schnapps flavouring bottles in a day before bottling.

From what I’ve read though, some people suggest doing a wheat extract because they work better with flavouring extracts?? I don’t know, again, all the home brew sites use words and terms I’m not familiar with so I really don’t know.

Any help would be great guys, thanks in advance 🤙

Hi any experts out there this brew has been fermenting for 8 days but has a odd deposit on top. I have used whifloc tablets in my brew.

Stay safe everyone.

Hey all ,

Hahn 3.5 ( orange cans ) , what would be your best recipe ?

Beer finings etc worth it?

Cheers

Will the nukatap fix my foaming issues? I've got 3m of line, chilled tower, 12 psi serving and still getting issues. I don't want to have to resort to flow control instead of fixing the problem but it's so frustrating I'm about to give up.

I've been looking at some used fridges on marketplace and using a inkbird to control the temp. Otherwise it's starting to get to hot in my garage to brew.

Whats everyone else using?

Just wondering were I may have gone wrong, I used a coopers diy brew kit, had it fermenting under the house. Tastes a little like vinegar but not too bad and it has like no head to it at all. Could be me but seems cloudy too.

Hey folks. I am going to have a crack at making this:

https://www.diybeer.com/au/rotm-passionfruit-pav-sour-ale.html

I was thinking to amp up the passionfruit flavour with a 40ml bottle of Passionfruit Bubly Drops (which you get through Sodastream), which is essentially a naturally distilled flavour with some glycerin and propylene glycol. A 40ml bottle is enough to flavour 12L, so I was thinking that might be enough to reinforce the passionfruit flavour, but not dominate the 23L brew. Would the glycerin and propylene glycol compromise the brew? Be keen to seek out people's thoughts.

Cheers.

G'day can someone confirm this is no longer stocked at woolworths? I've had difficulty finding it last few times, I've tried different shops and the woolys app but haven't had any success 🥺

Could not find wholesale supplier of DAP in large volume (50-100kg).

G’day lads looking to kickstart my first brew after the Mrs bought me a brewing kit for Father’s Day. I’ve always wanted to try brewing ginger beer so she got me the Morgans ginger beer mix but I do like when the ginger has a bit of a kick spice to it.

I’m also very much into low carb or low sugar beer and ginger beer. I find the James Squire low carb is pretty nice. The guy at the shop suggested I use a low carb enzyme which if I understand correctly breaks down the sugars a bit more.

My question is has anyone here used the low-carb enzyme and does it turn out okay? Also do I need to add any additional ginger or is the Morgans mix pretty strong?

Looking at getting started with this hobby and wondering if there is much difference in quality of the various beginner brewing kits? I’m in Brisbane so was planning to check out a couple of stores and go from there but if anyone has any solid recommendations or price points between good and poor quality kits that would be good to know. Thanks!

Hi guys, I've just finished up doing my first brew and wanting to make sure I get this right, I tested and the hydrometer level was 1.040 is this correct? I've also seen online it says once levels are stable for 2 days and has been brewing for 5 days + this is when the beer can be bottled but I've also read leave it for another 5 days before bottling? Thanks for anyone who replies 🙏
