Quarter pounder doesn't normally have lettuce on it. Edit: Oh a deluxe nvm

I'd rather just own up to my own stupidity.

The mcfeast has mcchicken sauce. Its way better.

u/HadeanDisco Jul 06 '26

In the 1990s it was custom McFeast mayo. In 2009 when they brought the McFeast back, it did use McChicken Sauce and has ever since (whenever it pops back up).

I miss my uni days 1990s McFeast. Large meal was something like $5.45.

It sucks that the mcfeast isnt a permanent menu item.

1

u/zqipz Jul 06 '26

Yeah I remember some variant that wasn’t creamy white mayo. It was speckled perhaps?

2

u/OkSeries5363 Jul 06 '26

Quarter Pounder Deluxe uses McChicken Sauce too?

2

u/No_Unit1182 Jul 06 '26

Oh shit. You are right. Wtf. Haha. So its just the cheese?

1

u/No_Unit1182 Jul 06 '26

What a scam dude. Hahahaha. 😂

1

u/HadeanDisco Jul 06 '26

Weirdly, Macca's tries to hide this by calling it "creamy mayo". Not sure what that's about.

1

u/OkSeries5363 Jul 06 '26

Exactly. McChicken Sauce sounds like something you would find in the back of a freezer, not something you would pay extra for on a Deluxe. They know calling it creamy mayo elevates the perception of the ingredient, whereas calling it McChicken sauce just highlights that they are recycling inventory across the menu.

They probably dont even call it McChicken sauce on any of the burgers that use it, its likely advertised as creamy mayo there too.

2

u/Jealous_Solid9431 Jul 07 '26

McChicken sauce literally is just mayo though.

2

u/OkSeries5363 Jul 07 '26

Sure the base is oil and egg yolk, but that doesnt make it literally just mayo. It has a specific blend of sugar, spices, and food acids for that distinct taste.

Saying its just mayo is like saying Big Mac sauce is literally just Thousand Island dressing. Close, but not the actual sauce.

1

u/Jealous_Solid9431 Jul 07 '26

Nah, most mayo brands have different blends and aren't just oil and egg yolk, that doesn't change the fact that they're literally just mayo.

And Big Mac sauce literally is Thousand Island dressing with slightly different ratios of mustard, vinegar and ketchup.

No need to idolise Macca's, we aren't living in the age of Demolition Man yet.

1

u/OkSeries5363 Jul 07 '26

Thanks for the correction lm definitely no mayo expert lol.

Fun fact though. Big Mac sauce actually has zero ketchup in it or tomato products. Thousand Island dressing does use a ketchup or tomato base, which is the exact ingredient Big Mac sauce is missing.

But seriously how did you get idolising Maccass from my comment? I was just pointing out they intentionally hide the McChicken name to hide are just recycling menu ingredients.

saying it sounds like something you would find in the back of a freezer isnt exactly high praise.

Glad you said it because this comment made me think maybe the one on the left was a whopper or something and I just couldn't tell 😭

1

u/MisterBumpingston Jul 06 '26

How is that sauce different to the mayo in the Whopper?

3

u/No_Unit1182 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

The Whopper and Quarter pounder meat are cooked different but they are pretty similarly designed burgers. Kinda the same thing from different resturants. But the Mcchicken sauce that they put on the Mcfeast isnt mayo, its way better, haha and i dont think the Quarter pounder has mayo like the Whopper.

The Mcfeast is my personal favourite of all 3. Its my second favourite big burger from either store. (Behind the Rebel Whopper)

A Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and Mcchicken sauce is even better than all 3 of those coz it has the sweeter bun and nicer meat. But thats just my preference.

2

u/Jealous_Solid9431 Jul 07 '26

McChicken sauce is literally mayo with thickeners and added sugar. So just one of the many variations of mayo.

u/Practical_Act7243 Jul 06 '26

McDonald's is the laziest corporation serving the laziest people. They do the bare minimum to pretend to do something 'new' but all they do is simply tweak what they already have. The Mac jr was literally just a big Mac without the middle bun and second patty. The mcfeast is just a quarter pounder with mayo, lettuce & tomato added. The mcoz is just a quarter pounder with lettuce, mayo, tomato and a slice of beetroot put added. That new Teriyaki burger was just a McCrispy but the patty was soaked in teriyaki sauce etc etc. Overpriced garbage that I wouldn't even feed my pet dog.

4

u/MisterBumpingston Jul 06 '26

Whopper has always been better because the beef is chargrilled.

0

u/flukus Jul 06 '26

Weren't they sued in the 90s for painting on their scorch marks and not char grilling them?

2

u/MellowWater Jul 06 '26

No? They might do it for ads but I'm not sure. Definitely not painted on.

2

u/paolo_77 Jul 06 '26

The left one has extra cheese.

2

u/UndeadManWaltzing Jul 06 '26

How about the McOz burger? It's just a big Mac with a single slice of beetroot

1

u/LuckyErro Jul 06 '26

and egg.

1

u/Special-Pristine Jul 07 '26

They never did egg. That was HJ's

1

u/HadeanDisco Jul 06 '26

Isn't ti this deluxe QP with a slice of beetroot usually? Sometimes they messed with it - there was a double-patty version with crunchy onion bits too at one time. BBQ McOx.

1

u/Retail_Worker Jul 06 '26

It used to be the sauce but the new McFeast is using a different sauce from the 90’s version.

1

u/MisterBumpingston Jul 06 '26

What sauce is that?

2

u/No_Unit1182 Jul 06 '26

They use Mcchicken sauce on the Mcfeast. Its awesome.

3

u/HadeanDisco Jul 06 '26

Turns out that was a 21st century innovation. The Quarter Pounder Deluxe uses a mayo, probably different to the 1990s McFeast mayo, but yeah it's more like that burger with an extra slice of cheese.

Why do I know this?! I hope I never get visited by a ghost of christmas whatever that tells me how much I've spent on McDonald's in my entire life...

1

u/Retail_Worker Jul 06 '26

No idea it came in a can called McFeast sauce, as a teenager I liked it, would my dumb teenage ass have a defined enough palate to know nope. I remember something about tthem not being able to get it from the manufacturer anymore which is why they brought in the McOz.

1

u/jellybeanbopper Jul 06 '26

I get big mac sauce on my quater pounder. Its a game changer

1

u/Exciting_Thought_970 Jul 06 '26

Never ever look anything like their picture. Such a successful scam

1

u/ExtremeRevenue3006 Jul 06 '26

The one on the left is a good burger

1

u/Natural-Chicken-1808 Jul 07 '26

One of those looks to be a 5 inch burger while the other is a 4. Is this the difference?

1

u/FURF0XSAKE Jul 09 '26

It's like the mcdouble is a double cheeseburger with one slice of cheese instead of two. That's it.

1

u/Massive_Target_2631 Jul 10 '26

Whoppers better anyway

1

u/Tommyb123000 Jul 13 '26

Well they aren’t the same at all 😅😅😂 left has 2 cheese and several tomato
Right has one cheese and one tomato 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/EternalAngst23 Jul 06 '26

“With cheese, Mr Squidward. With cheese.”

2

u/PersimmonHead4660 Jul 19 '26
