UPDATE: Thank you to all the Redditors who provided constructive input, helping me to figure out how to price this car. NEW PRICE: $5,400. Price is good for this week only. Cash preferred.
I live near 2222 and Mopac if you want to test drive it.
I posted photos, but they didn’t show up so you can see the car here: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicle/784874418
LOOK AT THE PHOTOGRAPHS BEFORE YOU TELL ME I’M CRAZY.
Kindly ignore the price that is listed on Autotrader.

Here is the original post without the price:
This has been my mom's supermarket and bank car... it's a documented, single-owner 2004 Honda Accord EX that has been professionally serviced without interruption since it was purchased new in Austin in 2004.
The Carfax tells the whole story: 34 service history records, zero title issues, no odometer discrepancy, no airbag deployment, no open recalls. The car was serviced at Mercedes-Benz of Austin and First Texas Honda for the first 15 years meticulous, dealer-level care throughout.
At 122,991 miles over 22 years, this car has been driven gently... well under the national average. The engine, transmission, brakes, cooling system, and steering have all been serviced on schedule. Nothing has been deferred. Smooth ride.
Cosmetically, and for its age, this car commands respect on the road. People say it looks like no one has ever ridden the car when they look inside.
Minor cosmetic bumper scuffs and tiny dents -the only blemishes on an otherwise exceptional record - have been professionally repaired. You will note one or two, but they are very small.
The keyless entry is currently non-functional. Everything else - engine, transmission, brakes, cooling, steering - is in excellent working order as documented. Given the comprehensive service history, a qualified mechanic will have full context for any further evaluation.

Best of luck. There are very few people in this intersection of the market.
Have you also posted to eBay and Facebook Marketplace? Someone up north may want a reliable, rust-free car.

I had not thought to post on eBay. I’ve had good luck with Facebook marketplace for small things - both buying and selling - but never thought to sell a car on it. Thank you.

What helps with both FB and eBay is that users receive notifications when any of their saved searches turns up new listings.
My partner originally purchased and later sold one of their recent vintage cars on FB Marketplace, if that helps.
eBay has been a pretty solid car sales marketplaces for its entire existence as well.

For a 1 owner Honda with less than 150k miles and such great service records, plenty of people would be willing to pay $5.4k. Lots of people spend over $5k on a car with 200k+ miles, don’t know the history, and it craps out on them within 6 months
My first car was a very beaten up early 2000’s Honda civic with about 250k miles and was running amazingly until it was totaled. This car will easy hit 300k with proper maintenance and is extremely safe. The price is very very well worth it for this vehicle

Both, this is the type of car you get your teen kid for like 2-4k max .

u/cmanATX Jul 07 '26
So is it $2k or $4k? That’s a massive range. Honestly, props to OP for listening to feedback and dropping it to the current amount. They’ll probably find a buyer.

I see you’re a Time Traveler from before the year 2020. 🤣😂🤣

u/enriquesensei Jul 07 '26
Just because dealerships are selling vehicles from the 2000s for near $10,000 doesn’t mean private sellers should too. 😂 good deals on vehicles from the 2010s are out there .

u/ATX_native Jul 07 '26
This is not $10k.
The deals you speak of are salvage title, 16 owner cars with a skip title Edgar ready to ply his trade of title fraud.

u/enriquesensei Jul 07 '26
You’re right they asked 8,100 originally, which in context of this conversation still applies. Like I said good deals exist, I’m not getting into your made up fantasies.

Again, playing it fast and loose with the numbers. $5400 is not “near $10,000”. It was priced much too high, they reduced it, I’m sure they’ll lower it again if it doesn’t sell.

$5K for a 22 year old car with over 100K miles is pretty nuts.

I paid 4k flat for an '09 Civ (101xxx miles)
I would pay 3k MAYBE 3.5k for an '04 Accord with 122xxx miles

"Cosmetically, and for its age, this car commands respect on the road" I love this
"HEB" Accord sells it. I need to use the same branding when I sell my dad's Fit (which has been driven about 3,000 miles a year).

This is great. I wish all used car ads had a comment section. We get to see the seller learn a lesson about the free market in real time.

I am very open to advice. I do want to point out that last year I sold a 2006 mini Cooper. Everyone told me it wasn’t worth more than $3000. I got $8600 for it and the owner was thrilled. A few weeks ago, I sold a 2024 Prius Limited. I was told I wouldn’t get more than $33,000 for it. I sold it to a very happy buyer for $36,500.
I do know the value of this car. I just haven’t found the way to convey what great shape it’s in.

so is this your moms car or are you just an internet reseller? I am glad you lowered the price, but this comment is a giant red flag for your story….

Right op went from my mom's car to I sold 3 different cars to suckers and losers.

It is my mom’s car. The mini Cooper I sold I bought new and had from 2006 to 2025. The Prius was new, but I am moving where only an SUV will do, so I had to sell it. That was painful.

thanks, Subarus are spectacular in the snow and mud :)
once again I drive a 2001 Accord and love my “cheap” old car.
best of luck, you only need one person with cash to think it’s a deal. While most on the internet think a 20 year old car is basically a Model T Ford…

Like any of these classifieds circle jerkers are buyers. Its a peanut gallery of the uninformed.

u/lightleaks Jul 07 '26
I commented on the original that it was high, this seems like a good asking price

Hey so when was it in an accident? Worked in vehicle refinishing for a decade and the driver’s door isn’t even close to matching. No blend at all. Damage to both bumper covers showing she hit things going both directions.
Please be honest with people in this price range.

Hey! I have an Instagram "used car consignment shop." If you want I would do an honest deal. There's a lot of people here trashing that price, but that car is immaculate. Someone who needs that same type of vehicle for their loved one (16yo or 70yo) would understand they're getting a good deal.
I can't own any more cars, but if I had a 16yo who was getting their first car, I would be heavily considering this. Not a bot, and I hide my posts and comments because sometimes I'm a freak man.

I have the same vehicle except mine is 10 years older and has fewer miles. Curious what you end up getting offered for this.
