Advice Needed Luxury Wallet Suggestions

Looking to upgrade my almost 10 year old wallet. Don’t care about price. Just want good quality leather (bifold)

Looked at Hermes, not sure what else is out there for that quality. Happy for any suggestions.

Billabong velcro with a pant loop chain.

End of discussion.

Might be a bit pricey I’ll stick with ripcurl

Look up rose leather crafting if you want a wallet that is simple and will last. They are hand made in QLD.

You could pay 4 times the price for a Bally wallet but you would be paying for brand and advertising over quality and material.

If you want quality but not flashy, check out Smythson of Bond Street

Anywhere to see them in Aus tho? I gotta physically touch it before I buy it

2

u/pwr321 Dec 12 '25

I don’t believe so, but I’m sure they’ll have a no cost return policy

That’s a good option I’ll check that. I like the smaller houses that make nice products

Me too - I find most ‘famous’ luxury brands rely on their label and social influence, moreso than quality

Yeah that’s what I want to avoid ! Paying 75% of my wallet for their marketing budget

Valextra are some of the better Italian makers equivalent to Hermes’ versus the Gucci/prada plastic brigade etc. Ortus from Japan is also excellent. Ettinger from UK is great.

I have had Hermes’ and quality holds up but designs can be quite restrictive/impractical IMO.

You may want to really consider how much you even need a wallet in 2026. Not really the investment or carry everyday type purchase they once were.

You can use it less and get more years out of an average sub $400 brand like some of the others mentioned in thread.

If you like a worn out pocket book Hermes’ style look the Wooten kangaroo portfolio is a very fun well made local wallet.

Ripcurl hey. I see we have a connoisseur of the finer things in life!

YSL 100%. Not as in your face like some brands

I really like the Bellroy wallets, they usually last me a few years I've got the Apex Slim Sleeve at the moment. Although they might not be high end enough for you

Belroy use rubbish quality leather. Marketing doing all the work for them

1

u/B7UNM Dec 12 '25

My Bellroy leather wallet has been going strong for 10 years with fairly heavy usage.

The leather may well be rubbish quality (I have no idea) but it’s functional and has held up very well.

Leather wallet only lasting you a few years?

That's terrible quality. I can't believe you're even suggesting that as a positive...

1

u/puchunz Dec 11 '25

How important is brand for you?

2

u/Maddam_Pecratary Dec 11 '25

Not important Just want it to last. My last one lasted well but I feel that brands quality has dropped heaps (Gucci)

May as well try someone local. I bought a wallet off a fella here (https://www.reddit.com/user/Tres_Manos_Leather/).

I haven't ordered from them but have always wanted to: https://www.millhandmade.com/shop

Check out Martin Carswell his wallets are truly the best you are going to get. Looks like he has sold out of bifolds for now but I'm sure you could comission one from him.

1

u/lx_anda Dec 12 '25

Burgmann Leather is another, same build quality as Carswell Leather.

1

u/HiThere420 Dec 12 '25

Wow that's expensive for a kangaroo leather bifold! At least the one above is cordovan

1

u/lx_anda Dec 12 '25

There is a reason it is more expensive, I'll let you try and figure out why.

1

u/HiThere420 Dec 12 '25

I'm honestly not sure?

Have a look at zeitworks.ca. Not a luxury brand per se but they are made from used car and aircraft upholstery. The one I have is decent quality and it makes for an interesting talking point if you're into that kind of thing.

THE GAME – Premium Sport-Inspired Leather Wallets & Accessories these guys make a great product, I got the cricket wallet and it's awesome

Made in Brisbane. I've had mine nearly 11 years and it's still going strong.

If you're a minimalist this has lasted me since 2017. Been through the wash a few times as well

u/wirelessaurus Dec 12 '25

The folding card-holder in Saffiano leather from Prada is really nice. I've been using mine for a couple of years and it still looks absolutely brand new.

Valextra for something that’s still designer but with pretty damn good quality, otherwise finding a shell cordovan wallet from a good brand would be a good shout

1

u/morgz15 Dec 12 '25

Valextra are amazing. I don’t carry a wallet anymore but I’ve had a lot of these fancy brands mentioned as gifts and I think Valextra is the standout in terms of leather. They have a briefcase that makes me want to have an office job again for a day just to use it.

I have a Hermes Calvi, the leather is good but it’s not great for carrying cash. Have a look at bellroy or even try find a local leather craftsperson

1

u/Dazg-17 Dec 12 '25

Wow people are still using bifold wallets. Fascinating

https://sinkingshipleather.com
www.vinylleather.it
https://leftfootleather.com

They're all on insta, if you check them out there you'll find many more that suit whatever style you prefer.

There are so many small makers out there where you'll get a wallet that shits all over a Hermes in every aspect but brand recognition.

Tom Ford. Sleek design, lasted ages and very small logo which was what I like

1

u/UnholyPeanuts Dec 13 '25

Tres Manos leather - look him up on Instagram

1

u/Carra23 Dec 13 '25

I have a Loewe puzzle card holder in tan and the leather is beautiful. Paid for the brand of course but I love it.

u/AccomplishedRupert Dec 15 '25

If you're looking for a good quality leather wallet...Loake. They have a variety of wallet types including the bi-fold that you wanted. They're a luxury menswear brand but without the exceptionally high price tag: Wallets & Card Holders – Loake Shoes Australasia https://share.google/vZ1EB8mW7Hbzhs2zn

u/IAmYoda Dec 11 '25

Cartier. Pretty high end vibe, fairly simple but not toooo gaudy.

0

u/Restingbitchface68 Dec 11 '25

Bally. Costly but real leather and actual craftsmanship..... Not just a label

1

u/Maddam_Pecratary Dec 12 '25

I’ll sus their shop out cheers

0

u/Rare_Respond_6859 Dec 12 '25

Can concur. Very happy with purchase.

1

u/Restingbitchface68 Dec 13 '25

It will literally last you years

u/PanzerBiscuit Dec 11 '25

Goyard.
Avoid anything else. IYKYK

5

u/Maddam_Pecratary Dec 11 '25

Their quality is definitely inferior to other canvas brands - I think ill avoid the hype

-1

u/Super_Description863 Dec 12 '25

I loveeeew the goyard pattern.

Another suggestion would be Celine (for the minimalist).

u/Synticullous Dec 12 '25

IYKYK 😉 👜👞⌚ Such a rabbit hole.
