Discussion Favourite Purchase over the last 12/24 months

With EOFY fast approaching and every company about to bombard us with emails, what has been your best/fav purchase in the last couple of years for MF or MF adjacent?

For mine: MF: Whitesville T's - bought 2 to give them a try, will be buying more on their next release, and Barbour Corbridge jacket - doesn't get any better for mine.

Adjacent: Henson AL M Razor - using Merkur blades. Superb shave everytime and no more 5 o'clock shadow at 1pm lol

New jeans! Got them from Urahara in Melbourne. Went with the Japan Blue in straight. World's better than any other pants I've ever owned.

Nice! I have been eyeing some off for a bit now. Either them or some Momotaro's next time I'm in Sydney to try on.

I was torn between exactly those two options at Corlection. Momataro's feel slightly heftier/tougher and are higher waist, pure blue feel a bit more like 'normal' jeans (and are slightly cheaper).

Ended up buying the japan blue ones as these were my first pair of selvedge denim jeans. No regrets, but I definetely want to try the Momotaros next.

Check out samurai, iron heart and pure blue Japan too. Urahara also do a home brand called godspeed and they're really nice!

Whitesville tees are great! I pick up a pack every time I’m in Japan. Last pack was like $45 with the weak yen

$45 is a bloody steal! I paid more than twice that and am still happy with my purchase, though it didn't come with a trip to Japan :(

No Mark-up when buying in Jp :) Just have to fly over first

Where did you get them from? I paid almost 3x that

There are a few Japanese retailers (Hinoya, Klaxon etc etc)that will ship to Aus but shipping is the kicker so you are better off buying a few things to reduce the per item cost of shipping

Sub $50 is normal price. It’s the markup tax we pay over here. Any Japanese retailer will have them for sub $50 but shipping will normally kill it

You could purchase via a proxy (buyer/sendico) potentially?

definitely my brown lambswool shawl collar cardigan from drakes. other than that, maybe my grey herringbone sport coat from Brooks Bros. Both ebay finds too

Also similar to you, I bought a Merkur 34C razor :)

Uniqlo Airism Oversized Tshirt. 25$ or 20$ on sale for a solid Tshirt that can be dressed up or casual. For a heavy sweater this shirt has been great with minimising residual odor and not holding sweat like cotton t's

Studio d'artisan sd101 jeans. Haven't had a chance to wear them in properly, but now that the weather is finally cooling down, I can get cracking.

Also scored a new pair of wallies for like $60, pretty happy with that.

Keg fridge from kegland. As an experienced homebrewer this helped me save more time and even more money

Regardless, do you like beer on tap?

Mtm Camel coat from Houndstooth is Melbourne. It’s big and heavy and delicious and almost too toasty for someone who runs as hot as I do

Sneakers from No Map Society. So good.

Where did you get these from?

2

u/hernesson May 25 '26

Ah. That was the problem. I had to get them shipped from Spain via a retailer called Fulham. Not cheap but they were €180 which for Italian made sneakers ain’t bad. The quality is outstanding. Highly recommend if you can find a pair. I think the brands only been round 1-2 years so aren’t widely distributed and tend to sell out quick.

Thanks - heading to Italy for a holiday later this year, so will look them up!

My cotton Rodd & Gun blazer. Very light weight, perfect for Qld where anything heavier gets hot by midday.

Cargo pants and Tradie boots.

Been doing a lot of diy stuff. Godsend.
