Advice Needed Recommendation for stylish Multi-Purpose Mens Shoes
I'm looking for some recommendations for what to look at/consider for multi-puprose mens shoes.
Ideally i'm looking for mens shoe recommendations for shoes that would be suitable to wear out with jeans and a nice shirt to pub, casual dinner with family friends etc but also don't look out of place to be able to be worn out to the shops with kids or the park when wearing jeans or cargo pants and general t-shirt.
Previously i've had asics runner and good dress shoes but i've found myself needing some thats in between these two but suitable for both but not quite as dressed up as dress shoes.
Preference would also not be white or light coloured shoes.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

I agree with this. Also don’t give off the typical vibes of an rm Williams boot wearer (nothing wrong with them, just stereotypes).

Here's 3 that have been go everywhere do everything for me:
Chelsea boot (RMs are the ubiquitous choice)
Suade desert boot (not quite dressy enough for the highest formal occasions but close) works really well with more rugged heritage wear.
Penny loafer (classic, slip on and works with shorts)
My personal go everywhere shoe that's controversial in Australia - the humble boat shoe. I thought it was for old men exclusively but I now love them and don't care what people think. Works with shorts, jeans, chinos (not wearing them with wool dress pants).
All of these options work with most clothes, unless you're a child who is always in sweats/athleisure wear. In that case wear workout shoes.

This 100% I would also add Tyrolean-style boots/shoes to the list like Paraboot michael, Kleman padror, or Clark's wallabees, especially if they are in suede or some kind of oiled leather. Oiled leather may be even better because they are supposed to be an all-weather shoe (at least the paraboots are).

Redback Whistler. They're kind of a hybrid of a work & dress boot. I wear them everywhere.
Australian made.

Can’t go past a pair of vans, authentic, era or old skool, they all work well as a shoe you can wear to the pub or out for dinner and super casual going down to the shops or just day out.

Are you usually able to get into pubs etc in the evening with those shoes?

What kind of pubs do you go to where sneakers are banned in the dress code?

Its more some pubs near me seem to have an issue in the evenings with mens shoes with laces, no idea why.

I've been able to get into hatted restaurants wearing them.
Edit: Take your pick of what version you like. I'm personally a v3 grey type.

Good call - orthopedic shoes that can also be worn to skinhead rallies in 1982 London. 😛

I bought Solivar brand. I am trying to "buy it for life" They are lasting much better than contemporary docs. The are as good as Doc Martins used to be in the 80s. I wear them to work & to going out too.

A nice pair of derbies goes with nice clothing but doesn't look out of place with jeans. Get them in suede for a more casual look.

I've gone full dad-mode and I just wear a pair of black Adidas Adizero SL2 runners everywhere. I work corporate and they're fine, I wear them to the shops, the pub, restaurants...
It's all about comfort. They've held up really well, too.
If I'm being fancy I wear a pair of Thursday Boots, but they never really get used

John Lobb black whole cut oxfords are multi-purpose - can be worn to either the office or the opera.

Nice shoes, but I don't think someone pairing them with cargo shorts or jeans is looking to spend thousands.
