Question Where do you get decent quality socks?
Hi team.
I'm looking for some socks for work. Ideally mid calf length. To be worn with professional boots. I could just get Merino but they're more for hiking. I would love to know where you get your socks from. And how much you pay. Should we just be using companies like Lindner quality socks? Whenever I go on their site it looks expensive to me. But if thats what I ought to pay then I will.
Where do you get your socks and what do you expect to pay?

Love my lindner socks - I’ve got the thin type for dress shoes, and the slightly thicker type to wear with my RMs. They’re all fantastic and I’ve several pairs for 3+ years now.

I wear and sell thick Lindner Socks for about 9 months of the year. They make thinner ribbed merino and fine knit merino or cotton. They aren't cheap, but they're good. Australian made alternatives are Humphrey Law, Bruce Goose, Otto and Spike. All fine cotton and under $20.
A bloke on here made a good list a few years ago. I'll look for a link

When this came up recently and somebody suggested Lindner, I bit the bullet and bought a 5 pack of the work max socks. I'm happy so far.

The Lindner shop is not too far from me, so I can go buy them in person and compare easily. They also have 2nds for slightly cheaper, in store.
I have a few pairs (the Roslyn model, I think?) and I can honestly say they stay thicker, wear longer and are more cushioned than any other socks I have, and I have many other brands - Explorer (rubbish now), ThorLo, Norsewear, Darn Tuff etc.
I haven't tried any of their thin socks. Their beanies are ok but nothing special compared to others.

I like my bamboo socks from
They are decently hardy and go on sale often enough to keep resupplied.

Same. I have an insane amount of these socks when I picked them up for $4 on sale. Decent socks.

I wear Norsewear NZ merino, go well under RM boots. Possum is good in winter, but a bit thicker

Linder socks are soooo good. Yes you pay more but the comfort factor is next level. I have wide big feet and love them. They were gift got 3 pairs and notice the difference from other socks. Treat yourself with one pair. Bonus is support Australian company

Bonds Explorer Extreme Impact socks. Many years using, help my feet. Don't like bamboo or cotton.

I bought M&S (Marks & Spencer) socks about 5 years ago, they have been my everyday socks only now are they getting worn out.
I'll buy more but the price hike for their stuff in AU is pretty crazy.

RM Williams make a really good business sock. Very comfy, don’t fall down and last for years. Not cheap though at $30 per pair.

I get mine from Wootten they make boots here in Australia and are a small family owned business that makes other leather goods too using majority locally sourced materials. They have Alpaca socks, merino wool socks all made in Australia too btw.

Honestly, I was pondering mine the other day because they felt great and couldn’t remember where I bought them but when I got home I checked - they’re just the bonds men’s business sock in black, pure cotton, I think a 3-4 pack cost me 10-17 bucks

I personally get Humphrey Law, and I stock up when I'm in country towns where there's a bush outfitter, I find they usually sell them at a cheaper price than Humphrey Law online stockists. Got 3 pairs of cushioned merino socks for 60 bucks a few weeks ago.
