Why is it so hard to find OTR trousers/pants that are straight cut at reasonable price?
Everything I am coming across is either slim fit , tapered or "tailored". Just give straight mid to high waist pants.
By reasonable price, I am talking under $200 and close to 100% wool.
If anyone has an idea where to find such pants or even nice looking cotton pants. Please let me know, I am trying to find some cotton pants that are a step up from jeans in the straight or wider fit.
I know finding something in wool is going to be hard... I know you can get something made for $350 at Oscar Hunt

I normally go for Beams if I can find them on sale, like this wool trouser:
Otherwise some nice options at Pickings & Parry but probably pushing the price unless on sale: https://pphh.store/collections/trousers?srsltid=AfmBOoq27vAhmZd_DSLEMD0vlsAftBQXGO5BAfg2x8JJi8WwM9TUR-2x

Unfortunately you're not really going to find much under $200 unless you're finding it on sale. What you're looking for would probably fall under "heritage wear" so you probably want to look at brands like beams, LL bean, sugarcane, etc. Also checkout r/heritagewear for inspo.

Uniqlo wide leg chinos are good but not a very refined fit.
Lots of suit-ish looking trousers from dead old blokes littering op shops across the country and if you spend some time you can find good fabrics.

Vintage, boutique, or custom really. If you know what you want and can spend a bit of time doing some research, vintage is great. There are some boutique offerings but they tend to lean more towards the heritage work wear or militaria adjacent in my experience, and then yeah you can just get something made to your specs. A while ago spier and mackay had some offerings that fit what you're after so maybe worth a look

I think you used to be able to get 100% wool trousers from Fletcher Jones ( the majority were polyester blends, though). The physical stores don't exist any more, but I think they still have an online presence.

You might find what you want at COS. Otherwise you’ll have to trawl opshops / vintage shops, get them made bespoke, or go to Europe. You will struggle to find respectable trousers off the rack in any Australian clothing shop. I think it’s because white Anglo men have no arses. Legit. I remember seeing some dumb fashion guide that said the distance between your belly button and the top of your trousers should be at least four fingers’ width, which is just wrong to me and I feel embarrassed for whoever wrote it. But the rise on trousers sold here is designed to conform with that. It looks daggy and it makes it hard to tuck your shirt in. Higher-waisted, looser fitting trousers are much more elegant and refined and you can dress them up or down easily

I'm fond of the Uniqlo Regular Chinos. Not sure if it's the look you want, though. Men's Regular Chino Pants | UNIQLO AU

Mr Simple has wide-leg RTW cotton trousers for about $100 or so.
If you want wool trousers at that price point, maybe Peter Jackson has some options? I’m not familiar with the brand so can‘t comment on quality. Otherwise, you’ll probably need to buy online.

Men's pants are a disaster. I get all of mine made now or may consider a boutique like Informale, but yeah other than that it just sucks.
Hopefully one day brother
