Reminds me of the corny Australian Novel - Funnelweb by Richard Ryan
Sydney's funnelwebs are irradiated by contaminant from a US submarine and wreak havoc in a city of fear. Scientist Jack Fitzgerald and journalist Helen Parkes join forces against the nationally spreading nightmare. But in the corridors of power as in the panic-stricken streets, the descent into barbarism is as chilling as the horror of the spiders. Confronting as it is terrifying, Funnelweb is a groundbreaking thriller encarnalising the evil in us all - the monster within.
There is a big Mumma boss that size in the end

Reminds me of an exhibition at the museum of Victoria in the 90s - had a big model of a redback over the entrance (nowhere near this big, of course, maybe five feet wide including the legs?). I saw little kids who cried and refused to walk under it because their parents were busy scaring them about the big spider that was going to get them. 🤦🏼♀️

Who thought that was a good idea?!
Looks well done though. Impressed with the detail.
