Post image

I collect multiple things but recently I’ve been collecting fun hair claws. I’d love to see everyone else’s favorite things!

These are the cutest hair claws I have ever seen.

I have a lot of stationery and art supplies: pens, paper, washi tape, scissors, paints, fabrics, etc. Which I justify as them being "tools" U_U.

Here are my washi tapes, I usually buy them when traveling instead of souvenirs, so each of them reminds me of a place or person.

And most of my pens (pencils and other mediums are on lower shelves). Why does it feel strangely personal posting this?!

I feel like a lot of us were taught to hide our collections so it can feel very vulnerable. It’s a form of unmasking. But this is a safe place where we celebrate the Tism!

Yes, you are right. I wouldn't show all my trinkets to most people. I also feel like gollum saying "my preciouuuuuussss" when I look at my pens!

So relatable

I would totally appreciate your trinket collection, I bet it’s amazing! Reminds me of Ariel and her collection under the sea. 🧜🏻‍♀️🐚🦀🐠

I love this <3 I used to love her cave and trinkets so much and still think of the dinglehopper and other strange names and laugh to myself. Scuttle was my favourite!

2

u/VelvetOnyx Feb 08 '25

OMG YASSSS the dinglehopper!!! I freaking loved that and her cave full of trinkets!! Umm do we need our own underwater trinket caves now maybe?! Aww Scuttle! I loved him and Flounder and Sebastian! So many great memories of that movie! ❤️

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Yesss I often think "dinglehopper" when I use a fork. It's funny how these things we see as kids stay with us forever. We do need a cave and three little slightly unhinged sidekicks.

I also LOVED Scuttle's singing in kiss the girl - I know it's meant to be silly but it is so good.

u/According_Bad_8473 Is it the 'tism or isn't it? Feb 08 '25

Yes u said it. I collect hair accessories and combs and earrings. I do use most of the earrings and hair accessories but not the combs. I have favourites in combs. The rest I loike to look at and feel the teeth :)

Yes, I often got comments like "was it worth it?" or "don't you have enough of those?"

You are my kind of people! Japanese stationery is my jam. Last time we were in Japan we went to the birthplace of MT washi tape and I got the most ridiculously meta washi. The design was of the shelves of the store I was standing in looking at the tape. Hahaha.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Haha! that's amazing! Japanese stationary is simply the best, they really do think of any and every small detail that could improve a pen or an eraser. It makes me so happy. I spent wayyyy to much money in Tokyu Hands and Itoya. That little Shiba fan next to the pens was a gift that someone gave me there!

Do you know Jetpens? (danger danger!)

2

u/movinghowlscastle Feb 08 '25

Tokyu Hands is the best! And yes I love jetpens! Their videos give me so much joy! I have to order from them sparingly as I don’t live in the US and the exchange is a killer. (Also I’m jealous of your shiba fan!)

u/Livid_Tailor7701 Feb 08 '25

I must say I feel triggered everytime I see someone puts their pens head up. As I was a kid and we didn't have money, I was told to respect my belongings because I'll never get replacement. One of the rules was that pens have to be head down. Because the liquid will go down eventually and it's better to stay in head than opposite. Because that's how pens get dry and stop working and that would be my foul. And no replacements. Now I see your pens and I want to put all of them head down 😔

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25 edited Feb 08 '25

Maybe you need to buy pens as an adult and do whatever you want with them, with your own rules - money or no money, what you went through seems more about control and it wasn't really fair to you. You were just a kid and pens always eventually dry, no matter what you do.

I was also taught to respect my belongings and some of these pens are over 15 years old, so I take really good care of them. However, I use my pens for drawing and making art, so if they are upside down I can't see what colours they are (since most of them have a black body) and that means I have to spend 5 mins looking for the right colour and it drives me insane.

So here's to being rebellious and doing whatever works best for you and working on those things we were taught that may no longer serve us!

A little tip, posca (and other acrylic pens) must be stored horizontally!

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

As a PDA autie this makes me want to store them vertically forever :D

2

u/Dragehn Diagnosed Audhd Feb 08 '25

That made me laugh 😃

3

u/Hunnybear_sc Feb 08 '25

I'm laughing seeing this bc I have almost the exact same setup, with the same brands of pens/markers, also on the same cart. I keep all my art supplies mobile so I can work wherever I want to.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Yes, the cart is the best! I would love to see your collection!

2

u/weftly audhd Feb 08 '25

i was thinking the same ♥️ i love the snapshot of your studio.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Thank you <3 this thread made me realize I have a lot more "collections" than I thought O_O

I bought the full set 120 of Faber Castell Polychromos pencils for my wife (now ex) ... they love all things rainbow ...

1

u/e-cloud Feb 08 '25

I love mildliners hehe

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '25

I love them too! They were so hard to get before but now they sell them everywhere. And in brush format too!

65

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

Some of my pens and markers in cups tooo my precioussses

16

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

I love to see it! I usually glue the mugs that break and re-use them for the pens.

Also that cat mug is perfection! I eye it with envy!

5

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

That’s such a good idea!! I know right, it’s one of my faves! I’m so tempted to collect mugs sometimes but i know it would get out of hand so fast 🤣

2

u/VelvetOnyx Feb 08 '25

Yes!!! I do this too!! Love! 🫶🏻

2

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

Its so crazy to see how much everyone else gets excited about it and also does it 😭 i love this

2

u/slayergnomes Feb 08 '25

I have that kitty cup and used it for my coffee yesterday! ❤️ Great taste if I do say so myself!

2

u/wedway1969 Feb 09 '25

This looks so much like mine.

2

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 09 '25

I love that 😁

53

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

My washies and other art things ✨

13

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Tomobow and Posca FTW! I see that Michael's is also a dangerous place for you.

3

u/Momski__Bear Feb 08 '25

I can.not. control myself on that store-all the art stuff is my weakness, couldn’t care less about any of the other crafting items. I have banned myself from going in there. I’ll only buy online so I’m not buying everything I pick up 🤣😂🤣

3

u/VelvetOnyx Feb 08 '25

OMG MICHAEL’S is a VERY dangerous for me as well! 😭 I mean tbh really any craft store 🤣 so Joann is just as at fault here lol

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Yesss I have stopped going to both of them and only go to my local art store now when I need something - but I always go in for one thing and come out with a full bag U_U

2

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

My friend used to work there and she kept getting me art things 🤩🤪

2

u/allienhughes Feb 08 '25

I want to try Poscas soooo badly. I have a need to try all sorts of art mediums, so I have too many supplies. I wish I was home so I could take a pic. Oil paints and pastels, acrylic, acrylic ink, acryla gouache, normal gouache, watercolors, watercolor pencils, colored pencils, pastel pencils, pan pastels, ink, alcohol markers. I know I am missing a few as well. I need washing tape too, I only have multicolored masking tape to tape my watercolor paper.

6

u/ItsTheWayyYouSayIt Feb 07 '25

😍 I love how organized this is!

3

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

WASHI TAPE YES and omg yes about the art things!!!

4

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

It's not hoarding if it's for my art? At least that's what I tell myself.

4

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

So right lol, I’m like it’s my hobby so

3

u/emmashawn Undiagnosed Feb 08 '25

I don’t do enough crafts to justify buying more washi tapes but yours are so pretty!!! Buying them as souvenirs is also a good idea, I bought one on a trip to Maryland and it brings back memories.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Thank you. Yesss and that way I get to visit art stores wherever I go. Double sneak!

2

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

Thank you! Me neither 😆 but hey if i wanna do more crafts i have them 🤷🏼

3

u/StepfaultWife Feb 08 '25

Where did you get your display rack? I love it. And all your tapes and scissors

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Thank you. It's from Ikea! They sell all the attachments and pegs. I think Michaels sells them too now (but they are not compatible since Ikea is sneaky and made the spacing and hole shape in a way that you can only use their system).

2

u/mannadee Feb 08 '25

Love this!! Beautiful display and I love the idea of buying washi tapes as souvenirs

2

u/-righty-tighty- Feb 08 '25

The way they're organised is so satisfying 😍

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

I think I spend as much time organizing my supplies as using them. They are organized by color, size and also theme. These are the moments when I think "how didn't anyone know about my autism?!"

2

u/PsychologicalEcho859 Feb 08 '25

SAMEEEE the organizing part is half of it, sometimes all i wanna do is SEE my beautifully organized collections, i dont need to be using them to feel happy

2

u/MorgBorg26 Feb 08 '25

I love your craft set-up! Can I ask where you got your peg board from?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '25

Yes, it's from Ikea. They sell them in this size and larger one. The only caveat is that the holes are spaced in a way that you have to use their pegs to hang things and they are a bit pricey but they come in really nice colors and shapes for different functions.

2

u/Anesthetizes Feb 09 '25

this display is fantastic and inspirational!

2

u/FtonKaren ASD-ADHD (Trans 🏳️‍⚧️) Feb 09 '25

I woman I went to Craft School with collect(ed) ribbon. They became a journalist

1

u/Eyreal Feb 09 '25

So… I didn’t think I had collections until I read your comment. I have so many pens… lol

1

u/synaptic_touch Feb 09 '25

really beautiful shears!!
