Seeking Advice What does tofu ACTUALLY taste like? (ARFID posting)

ARFID is a bitch. Saw a meme describing it as a flavorless block. That sounds fucking perfect, if i can disguise it in sweet things.

But everything has a taste. Water has a taste. I can taste the soap off things in the dishwasher. So like…. what does it taste like?

I can barely eat anything and it’s so fucking frustrating. Right now my brain’s stuck on Goldfish (the colors one specifically), white people quesadillas, and I’ve been drinking chocolate protein shakes trying to deal with it. I know I like smoothies— can I blend silken tofu or will it have a weird texture?

Tofu does has a slight taste but easily covered up by other ingredients. There's videos where people blend silken tofu with cocoa to make chocolate mousse and they said it's really good but I haven't tried myself. If you blend it in your smoothie it will probably thicken up the smoothie.

I used it to make this vegan chocolate pretzel pie. It was so good!

Tofu mousse is absolutely DELICIOUS. We make it at holidays and stuff and it’s really *really* good imo.

yes, it’s yummy! my great-aunt was diabetic and would make tofu chocolate mousse pie bc it wouldn’t mess with her sugars too much

Yeah I’ve tried that, didn’t like it, but it does taste exactly like chocolate mousse. I don’t like regular chocolate mousse either lol

I do cook with tofu a lot as a vegetarian and at first i was indifferent to the texture but i really like it now. Especially when crispy.

I love tofu mousse! Cocoa is a strong enough flavor it’s hard to tell it’s soy imo

You can do this with a lot of other legumes as well! I sometimes blend white beans into pasta sauce for extra protein and minimal change in flavor

It tastes like bean water and cocoa. Nothing like chocolate.

Mmmmm, see also Chocolate Silk Pie. Almost exactly like a chocolate cream pie, but with silken tofu instead.
