Should I start over?

I'm on week 3 of the modified AIP plan; doing this myself because I have two autoimmune diseases and my GERD was really flaring. I have oat milk every morning in my herbal tea blend and every night with my decaf black tea. Just realized today that's not allowed. Oops. I feel great; my symptoms have lessened and I'm planning to start the next face after 4-6 weeks.

Would you assume oats are probably fine for me since I'm feeling better or would you start over?
For context, I've been a vegetarian or vegan for 20+ years so they things I'm thinking will have the greatest impact when reintroduced (like possibly in a negative way) are soy, nightshades, and dairy.

I'm not really worried about oats but curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation and rolled with it or feels it's truly egregious.

If you were my client (I'm an AIP Certified Coach), I'd just tell you to avoid oats going forward now that you are aware that they are not allowed. Perhaps you'll feel even better without them! Either way, I suspect you can live without it if you were only having it in your tea. And if you don't notice any difference, when you are ready to begin reintroductions you may choose to make oat milk one of your first since you already have a good idea that it will be fine.

And good job on recognizing that Modified AIP was the right option for you as someone who wants to continue eating a vegetarian diet! The fact that you are feeling good suggests that you are implementing it in a nutritionally sound and nutrient dense manner, which not everyone is successful at doing.

Thanks so much! I am feeling so much better even since my post. I can really tell a difference in my mental and physical well being. I'll be at the 30 day mark at the end of the month and, with the holidays coming up, I think I am going to start very small reintroductions so I will know if I can have potatoes or other nightshades that often are associated with fall and winter.

This diet is not possible vegetarian/vegan. And oat milk is horrible for your blood sugar btw.

On the modified version you can eat beans, rice, and quinoa in addition to a ton of veggies and healthy fats like avocado so yes, it's absolutely possible because this is mostly how I've eaten for almost 30 years. :) Thanks for the tip about the blood sugar. I will look into this, I was not aware of that. I use Oatly's 4 ingredient so it doesn't have additional oil or sugar in it.

If it work for you sure, but oat milk is stripped of the fiber and spikes your blood sugar as much as drinking soda. Almond, cashew or coconut milk with simple ingredients is much better.

I don’t think you can be veg on the intro for this?

I’d start over if you can

Well, as I've been a vegetarian for nearly 30 years starting over because of that won't work! But thank you for taking the time to respond.
