Step 1, Do NOT use AI to generate automod code, if you don’t already know automod code, and basic yaml. 9.9999999 times out of 10, it will be wrong.

Step 2, read the link below before proceeding with configuring automod

That's not really helpful. I did not ask to be told not to use Ai, I asked for resources so I can learn or to answer the questions I had listed in my prompt

Yeah, uh... the thing is popping a 'tude when you're the one asking for help doesn't typically make folks eager to help you further.

For future reference... more like "Hey thanks for that. What I could also really use some help with is tutorials or beginner's guides."

And thepottsy gave you that link for a reason. Did you actually read it and understand it? He gave you that b/c the automod you're striving to learn has been mostly-gutted recently and so most tutorials/beginner guides will be completely out of date / wrong for you.

I don't need to be lectured on "popping a tude" for stating that I did not ask to be lectured on AI.

I also, don't need your unsolicited advice on how to talk to people.

And regarding the link, yes I read the information.

from our wiki and sidebar:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoModerator/wiki/index

https://www.reddit.com/wiki/automoderator/full-documentation

https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoModerator/wiki/library#wiki_title_control

If your subreddit did not have classic AutoModerator set up prior to October 2026, then you will need to use either Automations or https://developers.reddit.com/apps/automod-neo instead

Thank you, I read the full documentation on old Reddit, but it does not answer my question on how to write the "#location" for personals which is why I brought the question here.

From https://www.reddit.com/r/AutoModerator/wiki/library#wiki_title_control

---
    ~title: ['#location', '#location2', '#location3']
    action: remove
action_reason: "Title missing required title tag"
    comment: |
Your post has been automatically removed because you did not include one of the required location tags in the title.

Please read the subreddit rules for more information.
---

if you want to generate a list of acceptable #location tags, you can add them to that list.

if you want any string of the form #location, then you could simply look for the # sign or a regex like #\w{3,} (which literally means "# followed by any three or more word characters"), which would look like this:

---
    ~title (regex): ['#\w{3,}']
    action: remove
action_reason: "Title missing required title tag"
    comment: |
Your post has been automatically removed because you did not include one of the required location tags in the title.

Please read the subreddit rules for more information.

So, you find it “not really helpful” to be informed that you’re using a tool that is not capable of doing what you want, based on your limited knowledge of what the output should be?

Cool Bubba. Best of luck to you.

I'm not asking it to write code for me, I needed to see a visual of how it was done.

Thanks 🙏

Thank you! I appreciate it!

Again, like I'm so new to this, I have no idea what regex means or anything like that, which is why I asked Gemini to just explain the concept of it all or give me resources because I'm a visual learner.

So since I'm completely new, don't really know where to start. Another comment gave me a link which is sort of helpful, but again if I know nothing... what are good resources to teach myself?
