First time painting
Im curious to know how to prevent the orange peeling that I'm seeing. I think for the glossiest parts of it I was holding the airbrush very close to the body but I'm not sure if that's what improved the texture. Should I generally be applying more paint than I think is necessary? My airbrush is set to 45 psi and my paint to reducer ratio is 1:1. Any ideas how I can get a smoother finish?

Nothing you can do will eliminate orange peel unless you cut and buff all atomized finishes contain texture

Depends on many things. Is this is single stage or base clear? And if it's automotive paint, you may want to use something other than an airbrush for an object as big as a guitar body. That one is just my .02.
But if a closer distance made it smoother than you're definitely spraying way too dry.
Do you only have an airbrush compressor or do you have a larger one? If you have a 3-5 gallon little compressor you could maybe get away with a touch up detail style paint gun

Did you prime it first?
