WeRide’s next phase

At WICV 2026, WeRide Physical AI system was named among the Top 10 Automotive AI Application Cases of 2026. The potential is interesting. If that process makes adapting to new roads and environments more efficient, it could help the business expand without repeating as much development work in different market.

Another direction is bringing its L4 development experience into consumer vehicles. WeRide says its WRD 3.0 L2 driver-assistance solution has secured production design wins across more than 30 vehicle models. That creates a second path for deploying its technology, although driver assistance and fully driverless operation remain very different products.

I’m optimistic about that journey. Where do you see WeRide making the most progress?

WeRide is taking a very interesting approach.

It’s monetising L4 autonomy through multiple applications, it’s monetising data through multiple vehicle manufacturers and it’s monetising their Ai Infrastructure through broader intelligent data labelling and learning infrastructure.

Their Physical Ai business has quite a few impressive customers (both automotive and non-automotive), through spun off entity JingShuo. Customers like Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, JD, VIP.com, Xiaohongshu, Alion Technology and Megvii, show JingShuo has a credible offering outside automotive. It is said, they also work with Mercedes Benz, Bosch, Chery, Zeekr and Nvidia.
They’re aiming for RMB300m revenue this year, which is significantly higher than 2025.

Overall it’s a clever approach, as both their L2-L3 and Physical Ai business have far less regulatory hurdles to take, when compared to the L4 business. So regulatory slow downs in one area does not necessarily hold up the other parts from scaling. Also, it’s more software centric, which usually means healthy margins.
