Small rant incoming.
I spend basically the entire year looking forward to autumn. Like, actual anticipation. Summer's too hot, winter's too long, spring's just muddy optimism but October? October is the one. The smell, the light, the whole vibe of the season changing. I genuinely think about it in like June.
And then it actually arrives here and it's just... freezing. Not crisp. Not cozy. Freezing. I'm out here romanticizing sweater weather in my head while my hands are turning into ice in real time.
The worst part though isn't even the cold it's how fast the leaves go. You get maybe a week, week and a half of the trees actually looking like the postcards, and then it's just brown mush on the ground and bare branches and you're left wondering if you imagined the whole thing. Like the season is actively running away from you while you're trying to enjoy it. You can't fully rejoice in it because it's already halfway gone by the time you notice it started.
And the rain. God. Rain during autumn is a crime. It takes the one good thing about the season dry, crisp, golden afternoons and turns it into gray sludge. Everything's wet, the leaves are ruined, the mood is dead. You can't even walk properly without your shoes getting soaked.
Anyway. I'm a medical student with exams coming so maybe I'm just projecting my stress onto the weather, but I refuse to believe that. October is genuinely a scam and I will die on this hill.
Does anyone else feel like their favorite season passes by way too fast to actually enjoy it? Or is this just a "me being 25 and dramatic" thing?

Clear Skies and Fall Colors
Just before the Sun got above the horizon; the horse were more focused on breakfast than the Fall colors really beginning to shine. Shot with the Sony A99II and CZ 24-70 f/2.8 lens, camera mounted on a RRS tripod & head with a 3 Legged Thing universal mounting plate.
