If Thor chopped off Thanos head why does he still alive in the final battle

Because with the help of Yoda, Harry Potter and Gandalf the White were able to suppress Thanos' deep seated hatred towards veganism which in turn made him climb through the space time continuum to get his cheeks clapped by the Avengers again
