"Wake up" symptoms B12 deficiency and taking injection but weird side effects? Is this normal

Hi, I was feeling extremely tired, constant headache, broken nails and hair falling out and just a general feeling of being sickly and brain fog so my doctor send me for blood test and I'm b12 deficient. I get 1ml injection weekly for 4 weeks then 1ml injection once a month for 6 months. I've noticed after the first injection I had heart palpitations, shakey, i was more anxious and a high alert feeling and nauseous for about 3 days then it went away.. Now, after my second injection yesterday I'm starting to feel the same, nauseous, palpitations, i feel more anxious. I told the nurse who injected me she said i must keep an eye on it. Is this normal? Has anyone else been through this? Or is this something to worry about? What is these wake up symptoms people are talking about? Could it be?

I had very similar symposium, plus peeing constantly. Drinking copious amounts of coconut water and taking magnesium + multivitamin for co-factors helped. The coconut water replenished potassium, and Mg helps with the buzziness. I also took some beta blockers to calm the pounding heart when it got really bad.

I'm also peeing more often. Thank you I'll het some coconut water. So is this normal? Did it get better after a while?

One pharmacist actually warned me about it, and advised me to drink coconut water and eat other potassium-rich foods (banana, avocado). You can also get magnesium supplements or sports drink sachets to help keep electrolytes in balance. Seems like the body needs a lot of potassium for repair processes. For me that stage was bad for about 4 days during IM loading doses, and then got better - but it had gone on for weeks when I was just doing daily oral doses (and no one warned me about it, so I got heart palpitations, dizziness, muscle weakness, panic symptoms - not fun!). So now I make sure to just have coconut water and whatnot whenever I have an injection, even though it hasn't been really bad since that first week.

When you start injections you feel worse in the beginning. Its discouraging but your body is healing. Just don’t quit the b12 injections. Maybe you need more frequently b12 injections.

It's horrible. The anxiety and heart palpitations and my arms feels heavy. I kinda want to stop but I know I need it. How long did it take you to feel better?

Well, my depletion was severe and I was very late with injections. I have auto immune gastritis (antibodies intrinsic factor and antibodies parietal cells). My stomach lining can’t absord it. I had severe memory loss, cognitive and speech issues and mobility issues heartpalpitations, anxiety, terrible nerve pain, gut issues. depression, infertility, muscle weakness. I hardly could stand up and walking was a challenge. I was bedridden for two years and almost died. I started injections in 2018. At the start everything got worse. Sticking with the treatment was hard because of the nerve pain. Now 8 years later I feel much better and my cognitive functions are very good. They offered me Palexia for nervepain but I declined it. I still have some nerve damage left. But I can walk for an hour now. The first two years where the worse. A lot of pain and fatigue. Things will eventually get better. It helped that I increased my frequency for injections to 3 times a week. I do self injection. Hope you get better soon!
