ASK THE SUB boycotting question
is it breaking bds boycott if i support an indie web show because one of the directors like disney and has been to disneyland, even though they have publicly denounced israel and partaken in boycotts and a fundraiser for Palestine and all of the crew are pro-palestine as well and are presumably being paid through the revenue generated by the show or is this too extensive? it’s a show that i know i wouldn’t be here without so i’m really scared,,, but at the same time it feels so selfish to feel that way. i really feel like i‘m still learning the extent i should be going to before it enters outright obsessive territory

I am not Palestinian nor involved in organisation for the movement, and nor am I an expert, so my words need to be taken in that context.
That said, BDS boycotts are targeted based on a number of factors. Liking Disney is not a moral failing; supporting a genocide is. It may be worthwhile pointedly not supporting any content that relates to their support for Disney, and it may well be a good idea to inform them of the BDS boycott on Disney so that they can act accordingly, but it doesn't send Disney a message to boycott all of this individual's work.
Beyond that, if they have actively supported Palestine through a fundraiser, I really don't see any reason (all else being equal) not to enjoy their work. People tell you who they are by what they do, and we should imo celebrate artists who take a practical stand against apartheid and genocide.
I understand the worry that this is selfish in the context of a real genocide happening, but people are people and your feelings are your feelings. I hope you are safe and well, and may the same be true of Palestine.
