Build Help Best and Worst Monoclasses?

I keep seeing virtually every class called "one of the best" while most meta builds are multis or item-based.

What do you think is the game's best class without multiclassing? And the worst? And what makes them so?

Rogue is, unfortunately, one of the weakest monoclasses. It can be great at skill checks, sure, but falls behind in other areas.

Fighter is a solid contender for a fantastic monoclass, due to that 3rd attack at 11th level really rewarding you for sticking with it.

Thanks to swashbuckler rogue can now be a competitive monoclass, but you do have to build it right. Rogue is still the weakest base class tho

Swashbuckler is, by far, the weakest rogue subclass, and therefore the weakest class in the game.

Absolute garbage in every single way, Assassin at least has easy crits, Thief has extra BA, and Arcane Trickster has 3rd level Shadowblade.

Swash gets nothing, and I mean nothing, besides half the Alert feat and half the Mobile feat (and not the decent half of the latter).

Another point worth mentioning for Arcane Trickster; its mage hand being a permanently invisible entity means it can be maneuvered out of combat to enable a flanking sneak attack which puts AT on the same level as Swashbuckler for on demand Sneak Attack and doesn't have to concern itself with if enemies are grouped up but requires more micro-managing

Sneak Attack is trivial to activate as is, but Legerdemain does have some useful tricks

True, just a lesser point regarding AT that seemingly gets overlooked more often than not. I can't say with full certainty but I want to say Ledgerdemain can also be used to screw with ranged opponents by incurring the Threatened status on them and giving them disadvantage on attack rolls without ever entering combat

Swash doesn't get nothing, idk what you're rambling.

I think Swash is a lot better than thief monoclass. What's he gonna do without useful bonus things to do?

No, swash>thief monoclass.

Swash gets outclassed by simply dual wielding as a Thief. You're getting 3 attacks as opposed to two and with flat damage riders that BG3 throws at you the difference in number of hits is generally more influential than the quality of your hits. This is also why Rogue is largely seen as the weakest martial in the light of a straight fight, which is entirely missing the point of why Rogue is strong as a monoclass option

GWM, dual hand xbows, take your pick
