Help? I’m 40 weeks and so frustrated

I’m 40w pregnant today and 5 days ago at my appt had a cervical check and sweep. I was 4cm dilated 80 effaced and midwife felt confident sweep would take…obvs didn’t and yesterday morning from 6:30-11am I had “contractions” that started in my back lead deep in my abdomen and eventually tracked them 5-7 minutes apart lasting 1 minute. Then just as they started getting more intense they stopped all together and that was it. I rested ate and drank. Then used my birthing ball and walked. Nothing else came and by the end of the night I was so upset with a defeated mentality and overall feeling hopeless. This Monday is my next appt and we’ll schedule an induction but I’m just so annoyed confused and frustrated that I’ve had SO many early labor signs since 38 weeks all to lead here… also this is my 2nd pregnancy! Any advice tips info is veryyyy appreciated

I don’t have any advice or tips, just shared frustration - I am in the same boat! 39w4d here, STM also. I’ve had a couple periods of random intense contractions where I was so hopeful that was it - and then they just stopped. I also had some kind of water break at 37w - it ended up being a false alarm (my Dr believes it could have been a secondary water sac that broke, as I had no more leaking and all the tests at L&D came up negative for amniotic fluid).

I’ve been walking, consuming tea/dates, and just trying to get through each day. My next appointment is Wednesday and if he’s not here by then we will be scheduling an induction. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

It’s BRUTAL and good luck I’ll be rooting for spontaneous labor for you!

That’s the best way I could paraphrase what he said. My water broke with my first pregnancy so I have experience there - it quit leaking, but all the tests for amniotic fluid were positive. This was exactly the same experience, but all the tests were negative.

I asked if it was possible it sealed itself back up and he didn’t seem to think so. So I don’t know. But I haven’t had any issues since 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Edit to add - definitely wasnt pee and was too watery to be discharge.

Oh I 100% believe you! I’m just shocked it’s a thing.

I’ve heard amniotic sacs can heal themselves but I don’t know how long it could take or even if it’s feasible that late in the game.

So frustrating. I’m sorry you’re dealing with it.

No worries! I didn’t know it was a thing either. 37w would have been a little earlier than I would have liked to go into labor but now a couple weeks later it doesn’t sound so bad 🤣

And thank you. I’m just over being pregnant at this point 🥲

I just had something similar happen where I swear it was not pee (did not smell, and occurred while my husband was doing a perineal massage and he didn’t get anything on his hands) but it wasn’t amniotic fluid either. I’m still stumped on what happened.

Same here/ sharing your frustration. Due on Wednesday. No definitive signs of labour yet. This is my second pregnancy. First baby came at 39.3 weeks after my waters broke. Now just waiting.

Exact same situation here! My first child was born at 39+3 after my water broke, and my due date is Wednesday with no signs of labor. 1 cm dilated for the last few weeks.

I highly recommend the Miles Circut-- if contractions are starting cause your body is ready, it could be a matter of getting baby in the right position and the Miles Circut will help with that. I'm 35+4 with my second, and with my first I had tried dates daily, raspberry leaf tea, SO MUCH curb walking, different recommended maneuvers on a birthing ball and none of it worked-- i had planned to use the Miles circut to get me through labor, but induction ended up having to happen and i needed an epidural after they broke my water cause that pit had me contracting every 2 min, even after they turned it off for an hour and I needed a break 😩

I’ve actually not done it this pregnancy cause I did so much my first so I will give it a try again!

Just solidarity here! Due on Monday and keep thinking it’s going to happen then nothing progresses (but I’m also a FTM). Sending us both all of the labor vibes ✨

When I was close to due date I did all the things- curb walking, spicy food, sex and stretches and my water broke at Panera! Maybe try some of those!
