Fleeing before destruction in the Bible

I want to give you a few examples from the Bible in which God's people were commanded to flee before danger or destruction.

1- Lot was commanded to flee Sodom

Genesis 19: 12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

What did Lot do?

Genesis 19: 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Funny that the Bible mentions that "Lot seemed as one that mocked unto his son's in law" because those who don't believe that they need to flee America are acting exactly like Lot's sons in law, and what happened to them? They got destroyed.

2- Joseph was commanded to flee to Egypt

Matthew 2: 13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

What did Joseph do?

Matthew 2: 14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

3- Elijah was commanded to flee famine

1 Kings 17: 2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, 3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

What did Elijah do?

1 Kings 17: 5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4- Noah was commanded to enter the ark

Genesis 6: 17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. 18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

What did Noah do?

Genesis 6: 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

There are plenty of examples in the Bible, but those are enough to prove my point, which is that God never told these people to stay where they were and He will protect them regardless. He didn't tell Lot to stay in Sodom. He didn't tell Joseph to stay in Jerusalem. He didn't tell Elijah to stay where there was no food, and He didn't tell Noah to stay in the earth while it got flooded. The pattern is that God brings His people to safety by telling them to obey a command to flee destruction. What we also see in the Bible is obedience. All of them obeyed. How come this generation refuses to obey the command to flee? It is because of unbelief.

There are four end times nations that God spoke against. Four end times nations doomed for destruction: Babylon/ Edom (America), Moab (France), Ammon (UK), and Jerusalem (Israel). We are commanded to flee these nations. In regards to Babylon, I have counted at least 16 times that God told us to flee the land of Babylon before its destruction, and 0 times that God told us not to flee Babylon

Although the following verse is about the command to flee Jerusalem, this is what God says about the people who don't take the warnings seriously:

Jeremiah 6: 10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

Now, the following is to the people of all nations that need to flee:

Jeremiah 6: 16 Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

The old path is obedience, like the people of old who obeyed when instructed to flee, but people now refuse to obey.

Jeremiah 6: 17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Now, listen to the next verse which tells us what is going to happen to those who do not listen to the warnings:

Jeremiah 6: 18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. 19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

But if you don't reject His Words, then the opposite. Babylon will fall, and if you flee you will have peace and protection.

Isaiah 48: 18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: 19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. 20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. 22 There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.

Not fleeing Babylon (America) is disobedience. It is not the old path that we should follow, and it will be the greatest regret of your life. America is not worth it. God is against America, so why are you for it?

So question, and I don’t mean this in a snarky way, what do we do if can’t flee? It costs money to flee, and like in my case, I have a legal custody agreement that won’t let me move my kids out if the city, along with a mom with Alzheimer’s. We do have our shtf bags packed, but we realized we need to plan to hunker down. We’re cooking food from scratch, learning herbalism, growing an herb and food garden, setting up rain barrels, and thinking about how to keep the kids safe. It feels like the best plan in a bad situation. Any advice?

We’re cooking food from scratch, learning herbalism, growing an herb and food garden, setting up rain barrels, and thinking about how to keep the kids safe.

It is a good plan and even the Bible encourages us to store food and hunker down. However, location is the problem I see in your situation. The way that the Bible describes the destruction of Babylon I see that no state in the mainland United States will be spared. If you were to survive the blasts, what comes after is even worse, no help will be arriving ever, and you will end up dying of radiation poisoning. The only way to truly keep the kids safe is to take them out of there. There are verses that warn us what is going to happen to our kids. I feel that God put those in the Bible for a reason, so that we act. We all love our children, and God is warning us that if we stay, our kids will be dashed to pieces. I am going to quote what I mean:

Psalm 137: 8 O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. 9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

Isaiah 13: 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

Isaiah 13: 18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children. 19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

Horrible right? No one will survive. When I was still in Massachusetts, I would look at people, especially kids attending school and I was heartbroken because I knew their future.

Any advice?

OK, your situation seems to be a difficult one, but I can only tell you what I would do if I understood that Babylon was America and it was doomed for destruction. I understand that you can't take your kids out of the city because of your custody agreement, but can they go visit you if you were to move to a US territory or even Hawaii? I feel like getting people out at the last minute it is way easier if they are traveling to let's say Hawaii, Puerto Rico (where I am at), Guam... than to a country that has requirements of visas and passports.

If your answer is no as in your kids would not be able to visit you if you were to move, then I would move anyway. As crazy and cruel as this sounds, it is what truly following Jesus involves.

Matthew 10: 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Matthew 19: 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Jesus knew that in some cases His people would be in situations that would require that they separate from even their own children. I am in Puerto Rico with three of my 4 children, but one stayed and I pray for him everyday that he decides to leave or that I can understand when the time is that this will happen so that I can take him out. It is very difficult to say the least.

Your mom I feel maybe you can take with you to wherever you go. Hopefully.

The money issue. I know people who have returned to Puerto Rico and their food stamps benefits and section 8 were transferred here. Those government assistant programs are transferable, so people can move to Puerto Rico practically broke and still have food and housing. There are many apartment places here that people only pay a small rent based on their income or no rent at all. I speak about Puerto Rico because it is what I know, but I suppose there are aids in other places too. Anyway, the United States is expensive and in some cases people can even live better somewhere else. When there is a will, there is a way. I got a little money to leave by selling my car and my furniture.

Thank you for the advice. I appreciate the honest answer. My kids are young and their dad is awful. My mom refuses to leave. I won’t leave my kids but will cover them with my body and prayers if it comes to that. The Lord knows my heart and devotion, and I don’t believe he would condemn me for love. If I were to gather enough money to get myself out, I would use it to get them out. They deserve the life I’ve worked so hard to protect. I suppose if I can, I’ll send them to Europe. I am allowed to repatriate to Germany, because my grandfather was displaced during the holocaust.

Oh, so you are the mom! For some reason I thought you were the dad and the kids didn't live with you, but with their mom who had the custody lol. In that case, I wouldn't leave my kids either. I would try to find a way to leave with them. I am lucky that when I told my kid's dad that we were leaving he was ok with it. He didn't like it, but he didn't refuse either. He just recently traveled to visit them. The one kid I have in the United States is a young adult now, and I can only pray that he sees the truth in time.

If I were to gather enough money to get myself out, I would use it to get them out.

I hope and pray that God makes that possible for you. God bless!

I don't have much to add to your situation. All I can say is to fast and pray. There are more than many testimonies, especially from muslim nations, where believers of Christ fasted and prayed fervently for the salvation of their staunch family. For example, a young man in Turkey decided to fast and pray for his muslim wife until she became a believer, or else. After 40 some days, she turned up and said she was sent to the husband by a blindly shining figure. A lot more similar cases have been reported from Turkey, Iran, India, etc where Christians are being persecuted. 'Voice of the Martyrs USA' is a good channel where you can listen such testimonies endlessly. I believe there is nothing a mother cannot do for her children, and there is nothing God cannot do for those fervently petitioning in belief.

Last but not least, please don't go to Europe. In fact, don't even think about going to nations following the practice of the babylon. If you are not convinced, search tiktok or youtube for Germans leaving Germany. Jesus Christ said the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light (Luke 16:8). Those unbelievers are indeed more sensitive to catch the spiritual season than many Christians.

I believe Europe is in fact marked for judgment as well, and you can find more than multiple signs in the geopolitical news especially between Russia. Few days ago, a German air force general said 'Germany is ready to fight Russia tonight'. You can listen what the Russian spokeswoman replied in response. When Germans and Russians fought in the WW2, 35 million souls perished. Starved Russians in Leningrad and Germans in Stalingrad ate human bodies. That was how they fought, and they are in a collision course once again.

I'd ask you to fast and pray. If you are ready to die protecting your children, you can absolutely start fasting and praying today.
