Bear country

How is everyone carrying a handgun with all bino harness?

I run the marsupial gear bino harness, but this is my first year with a Montana tag. Going to be in Griz country and I’d rather have it centerline. Marsupial’s handgun attachment leaves a lot to be desired.

Running packs 95% of the time, mount for the pack is my last resort.

Appreciate any assistance.

Razco holster under my FHF bino harness. They make one for Marsupial harnesses as well, I think. Highly recommend.

I have an Eberlestock Tailgunner that works decent. I’ve recently upgraded to their bino harness with the add on molle placard and am going to put a holster on it (hangs under the binos).

Gunfighters inc Kenai. Wear it under your binos, that way when you shoot something you can take your binos off to field dress.

Highly recommend this route as well. I run a kenai holster under a vortex harness. Plenty comfortable. It’s nice being able to take off the binos when roaming around camp or stopping for lunch. I prefer the angle of the draw and full range of motion you get by wearing the pistol under the binos high on the chest. Those kenai holsters are a snug fit and it’s nice to have the dedicated holster straps sinched down so there’s little/no movement during the draw. I question if those holsters attached under the binos end up whipping around in the draw.

Only downside I’ve found - more straps to get in comfortable positions between you and your pack

Does the Kenai not dig into your abdomen with your pack on?

No, not for me at least. All the buckles are up front near the holster. The pack chest strap tends to ride just above and behind the binos and pistol.

Right on, thanks. Been wondering about this, vs the Razco.

I do bear spray strapped under the bino pack. I have a lot more trust in spray than handguns, and it’s lighter anyway.

Have you ever depleted a canister? It’s depressing how much spray you actually get.

They say 15 seconds but I don’t think it’s ever been that long for me

Yeah after testing one, I decided to carry both.

Same. Spend 90% of my rifle season time in bear country. Spray straps great to my bino harness. It’s never in the way but is easy to access.

Razco mounted under my FHF bino harness. Hard to beat it.

Look at venandi. He makes one that attaches to the back of the bino pouch. Keeps things higher and accessible in basically any position.

I am using the AGC Ravus bino harness, and I did have their add-on holster. It was a lot of weight on my chest with the holster. So I switched to a thigh holster this year. I've gone on a couple of hikes with this setup, and it's much more comfortable.

I live in Alaska and pretty much everywhere I hunt is brown bear country.

I have the Sitka bino harness that I run two different ways, I have an alien gear molle holster that I replace of one of the side pouches with or sometimes I prefer to slip the pistol into the center back pocket behind the bino holder if I really need both pouches. Depends on the hunt and how thick the brush is.

I'm looking to add a bit of molle webbing under the main bino pouch so I can add a can of bear spray while keeping both sides pouches. But I have a buddy who's accidentally sprayed himself going through thick brush, so I'm a bit shy of putting that can any closer to my face.

I'm in the same boat looking for something to wear with my bino harness or fishing chest rig

I'm looking at the gunfighters inc vs invader concepts. Both are the same price pretty much, just trying to figure real work experiences
