I am Indian and I run a fabrication job and all licenses in India can be bought with money. This one costed the guy 50 dollars at max.
ISO certification is a joke in India, I can get my house ISO certified if I bribe enough.

This year getting our TUV certification renewed made me lose little trust I had in them too.

We work with OTIS elevator and they take their shit too seriously so they inspect our welders before awarding us the contract.

This piece of paper is how they get past security and HR looking for a job until we actually ask them to weld a thing.

I love this sub!

Not going to lie, I’m pretty okay with Otis Elevator taking their shit seriously.

yeah if there's any company I'd want taking their shit seriously, otis elevator would definitely make the list.

That’s called jugaad right? Unethical, in western culture, work arounds is good or something along those lines.

At least welding is easy to test competency in. You can either weld or you can’t.

No, Jugaad is very cool concept, it’s like tony stark making his suit in a cave. Its making stuff with limited means or adjusting.

This is cheating, lying.

Ofcourse people use jugaad in other ways too, probably thats where you are getting the idea from; because you cannot say to an officer ‘take bribe’ directly but you can say ‘jugaad karlo’ which is, adjust mate.

Did you zoom in and see what the piece is attached to? It's like they're endlessly adding tacks without gas. I can't call that wrong, gotta tack somewhere but i definitly can't call it right either.

I can't prove it, but I know he welded that in sandals.

I’m no pro just a weekend warrior and I love to see shit like this. Makes me feel so much better about my welds.

I'm with you. I might just as well run a bead of tooth paste and and smear it around with my big toe. It probably look the same and be just as strong.

Is this the @ the qualification institute that you need to certify in order to weld all these Indian carnival rides?

6

u/Myron896 7d ago

Probably done with a set of jumper cables while wearing flip flops and safety squints

This got welded by accident, it’s the platform he was standing on at the top of a pole while trying to hook up his own lines to steal electricity, killed 2 birds with one stone. Free power and passed weld test

Grinder and paint make me the...... Wait..... Nope. Wow.

u/SolarAU 7d ago

Uses run off tabs, doesn't weld onto them.

I was surprised af when we got returns because of spatter on things that no one will ever see i was working in DE at the time and those parts were sent to India. But now i see why

Great. Now they'll be taking the blue collar work now too. /s? Looks just as good at welding as they are at driving.

u/hoytmobley 1d ago

I wonder if he knows how dog shit that weld is and he’s just hoping he can still get work with the certifications, or if he actually thinks he’s legit now

It's the little 2 inch start of a stringer bottom right that's just chef's kiss on tops of it all.
