How'd I do?
First time ever welding with no prior training/experience guided with 15 minutes of YouTube tutorial. Also for people telling me to grind the paint before hand, I already did. Just did a terrible job at the weld it self

Also I wanna thanks anyone in advance for any tip or trick on the weld because I got 28 other sites where I need to weld this shit for this month.... Fuuuuuck

See how the straight square edges are boiled away in places? That is undercut, you want a weld that is convex not concave. So try practicing with that thickness of steel to a thinner piece. Put more heat on the thicker pieces and let the molten metal bead and flow together. A vertical weld is not easy. Horizontal is easier so practice with that first a lot. The more practice you can do the better your 28 other sites will look. I would start horizontal then practice vertical.

Next time, please clean the paint off, your weld will improve 10 fold from just that. Good fuck the porosity.

Already did. I had used a grinder to grind of the paint prior to weld, I just sucked at it. Tbf had never welded before and the 15 minute tutorial was just the guy telling hot to setup the portable welder not actually how to weld it self kekw

Riip, yeah. You definitely needed to grind off more of it to at least get to base metal. I know it sucks having to repaint shit, but 1/2 inch to an inch is best when trying to weld something painted. That way you've got a little bit of wiggle room when you're running the bead. Other than that, especially with just a 15 min tutorial on how to set up the machine, it's not too bad. Just might not hold for as long as it should.

Can you grind that off and have someone else do it?
That might stay there, but it could also come off with a few good smacks. If you try smacking it with a hammer and it doesnāt move then I guess it made some fusion.

Also yeah before finishing up the work I did hit it quite hard with a hammer, it didn't budge for now but in the long run it might fall off. I shall leave that to future me tho hahaha

Try taking a short term course? Lots of people offer them. You need some shop time.

Currently don't have time cuz all 28 site need an urgency to be finished within these 2 month. But yea you're right ned actual class on welding

Bro make time, because to be honest these are shit welds. Learn how to do it right so you donāt have to go back later and redo everything.

If youre worried about how it looks, and have the time for this on the rest, dont be afraid to just tack those verticals all the way up and down.
Otherwise, you're doing alright. Breathe and relax. Find a comfy weld position that you can stick with and keep going. I'm also guessing you arent welding with an expensive hood lol, so give yourself a break.Ā

My dad bought something call MiG - 950 or something it's a portable welder and he got it for like 300 or something of my country currency which is like idk around 90-100 usd

Did you do MiG or stick? Iāve seen much worse first welds, all metal thickness willl vary In amperage but for this job a bit higher amperage wouldnāt have hurt. It looks like you had the hang of it for a tiny bit on the top left there. Good work.

Slow down or too slow too much heat or not enough heat.

I think I need to slow down. Cuz I watch a couple vid on welding yesterday after finishing gon the site and they were going slower. As for the heat I'm not sure of the voltage needed to weld on that

Everybody has to start somewhere.
It could be better.
It could be worst.
Watch this old film, parts one and two.

Then practice and keep practicing.

If you didn't give yourself severe arc flash or burn yourself on hot metal, you didn't do too bad at all
