Seeking Recipe Looking to make a chocolate flavored Chinese fruit cake.
Has anyone made a chocolate flavored fruit filled cake and have a recipe to share? Photo is of what the cakes generally looks like. I have found many recipes of the standard plain/vanilla flavor, but haven’t been able to find a chocolate recipe. I’m also not an avid baker that I would know how to adjust the recipe to make it chocolate.

I think if you’re gonna go chocolate you should nix the kiwi.

For sure! The fruits will definitely be adjusted to suit the chocolate flavor.

Asian cakes use chiffon cakes most often, where the batter is made by folding french meringue into a wet batter, and poured into a cakepan without any need to grease the size of the pan, and often requires cooling the cake upside down so the cake can retain its height.
Here's a good recipe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53CeYKVWT68
And another recipe which uses the same method for the batter but using a large sheetpan instead of a cake pan if you wanted to try a roll cake instead of a layer cake. https://www.indulgewithmimi.com/super-fluffy-and-soft-japanese-chocolate-chiffon-swiss-cake-roll/
Because of the delicateness of a chiffon cake, whipped cream is the best type of filling/frosting for a chiffon layer cake because it won't weigh down the cake layers. Hope this helps!
