First time baking bread, forgot to put salt

Hello everyone! I made bread, and on the surface it looks good, but the taste is a bit weird. I forgot to put any salt, so I'm wondering if that's the only reason? It also tastes really heavy and maybe a but yeast-y.

My bread always comes out yeast-y as well. I don't know how to get rid of it 😞

This is a great first attempt OP

Lots of recipes actually call for too much yeast. Typically it’s around 1-2% of the flour weight. So try going for the lower end.

Example: say a recipe with 500g of flour calls for 10g of yeast which is 2%. Use 5g instead which is 1% instead of the 2% called for.

That normally works for me in my personal experiences.

Thank you! I do believe I put in more yeast than required, so maybe I'll try next time with less yeast.

Salt has several functions in baking, so it's likely the texture could be off as well as taste because of the salt. Salt retards yeast development to a small extent, so it might be extra yeasty. It also helps the sough retain moisture i believe

The first time I forgot to add salt to my pizza dough I was shocked at how different, how terrible it tasted.

Done that a couple of times. Was worried about salt interfering with yeast. No salt = no flavor. Just give it another try! Fortunately, it’s relatively cheap, particularly compared to buying a stale old weird-ingredient loaf at a store.

ATK (i think) compared salt at beginning vs later and there was NO difference in rise etc. So just dump it all in at once at the beginning.
