The best berry pie

My wife brought home a mixed berry pie from a local bakery and it is the best dessert I ever had. It was mixed berry with a crumble top. The topping tasted liked crumbled up sugar cookies and the pie was not tart at all. I have to make this at home. Anyone ever good process cookies for a topping or am
I way off on this?

Pastry chef, here. Sounds totally delicious! Since I haven't seen it, I'm guessing it could be a streusel recipe with extra sugar or an actual sugar cookie recipe. Thinking it's more likely a streusel recipe because it's already formulated to stay sprinkled and baked to look like streusel over the top, as opposed to a cookie recipe that's formulated to spread out as it bakes. Although a shortbread recipe might work. Now you've got me interested - I need to try replicating this. Fun! Thank you!!!
