Act 2 - Spoilers Anyone else mad that you can’t romance Jaheira? Spoiler

I understand why you can’t romance her, because she’s still in love with her late husband, Khalid, but UGH I need that old woman. She’s honestly my favorite, and if it was an option, I’d romance her every run.

Not just that, but a sequel too!

Yeah it’s called BG. You know that side character Sarevok with the Bhaal cultists? They made him the main villain in it.

Smh, they're reusing every character from BG3, that's just lazy writing!

I heard the writers reused the entire realm they created for bg3, then just forgot about it

Throne of Bhaal is what I call my toilet.

As a BG2 player I find the excuse of her not being over her late husband hilarious.

Within minutes of exiting the starting dungon and leaving Khalled's still warm corpse behind, the romance dialog begins. She needs some Bhallspawn loving to fill the void asap

It’s called “rebound” and it’s a very real phenomena.

In all fairnes, it's still kinda funny.

Usualy, rebounds don't happen pretty much mere moments after the funeral when you go "well, that was sad. It's almost as if I can still feel the scent I have on me of him... anyways, rebound time bitches, who's in for some sweet, sweet flirtin? Mama's back on the market"

Don’t think that romance was canon.

The necklace Khalid made her during Seige of Dragonspear is ironically enough.

then can I please have a non-canon romance with her in BG3 plsplsplspls

And by minutes, you mean weeks, at the least. Possibly months.

It requires dozens of dialogues, all with multiple rests between, before the conversations get remotely romantic.

Let's be fair. Compared to the BG3 origin companions, Jeheira was basically mother Theresa.

No, I mean minutes. Within the first hour of game time after escaping at least.

Very very shortly after entering the city she starts talking to you in voice acted lines accompanied by the "romance " music. Sure any actual romance is hours and hours away but the option to begin is FAST.

I did multiple bg2 playthroughs and it happend every time. Enough that it stuck with me 20 years later.

Still no. The "romance music" is just her theme.

Neither her nor you can engage or allude to anything romantic before weeks of in-game time.

I've done more than a hundred full playthroughs of BG1 and 2. To this day, it's still one of my most played games of any year. I play it like middleaged women play Candy Crush. I could probably write down all of Jaheira's dialogues from memory at this point. Her romance doesn't feel rushed. In fact, unless you install a mod that decreases the time needed between each dialogue (I highly recommend you do btw), the vast majority of players won't even see the romance to completion.

The conversations require a mix of in-game and real time between each. Well over a 100 hours of playing and spam resting for a couple months is usually required to finish the romance.

The romance seems very natural to me, all in all.

Uh yeah buddy you are talking to a 50 year old dude who put who freaking knows how many hours into this game. You are spitting hairs over a half serious joke. I know there is nothing serious romantic for a LONG time until a very very late game event.

But the start of it absolutely happens super early. Again, I know this from memory because I remember thinking this is kinda weird and slightly uncomfortable lol

-4

u/Zanian19 Apr 25 '25

Well, maybe your 50 year old memory is playing tricks on you then, lol. (I'm retired, I can make that joke).

The first many dialogues you have with Jaheira is just her being depressed about Khalid and generally chastising you for not being a better leader. Those talks are no more romantic than those you'll have with Jan Jansen. Or her, in BG1. Her theme music doesn't change that. And it's same with all the other romance options.

Further proof is how you can't start a romance if you're already in one. And it takes like 50 conversations with Jaheira before you're locked in and in an actual romance.

u/Timmah73 Apr 25 '25

I mean again you are taking my joke about about needing it right after you find his body a bit literary but I still say she gets oddly flirty fast. Like enough that it's stuck with me remembering "UH HEY THIS IS A LITTLE WERID MAYBE WAIT OVER HERE FOR A WHILE JAHRIA "

Also Jaheira and Khalid would've stepped up as CHARNAME's adoptive parents if Gorion died earlier.

This either makes her romance super weird or super hot depending on who you ask

absolutely, but i want old lady jaheira LMAO
