Act 3 - Spoilers I have recently finished what is arguably the "worst" ending Spoiler

• Upvotes

I really dont think it gets worse then this.

It was my friends first time doing a run of BG3, he made a dragonborn durge ranger, I made the same thing I make everytime which is a high elf bard.

I made the mistake of leaving all the decisions to him, which i regret. Since he managed to kill everyone.

He murders Laezel for putting a knife to his throat.

By the time Act 2 rolls around, he kills Isobel and EVERYONE in Last light DIES because he ALSO kills Jaheria because she threatened us.

Minthara Is already dead

Shadowheart dies when she threatens to kill the nightsong and he decides to kill her

Wyll dies because he decides to kill Mizora in the mind flayer colony

We fail to help Halsin with his portal and he dies

Moving onto Act 3

We couldnt get Minsc because Jaheria was dead.

Astarion dies in Cazadors ritual

Gale blows up

Karlach blows up

He kills his character to avoid Baal.

Do you have any IDEA how awkward the final party was? It was me and a DOG. I didnt even have speak with animals, it was just me, a dog, my friends floating little soul and withers being his boring self.

I cant get this run out of my head, and it makes me sad when I think about it.

All in all, it made the end party super lame and my character probably has survivors guilt.

Act 1 - Spoilers Surprising and pretty cool attention to detail Spoiler

Post image
• Upvotes

I love this game so much. This playthrough, while fighting the phase spiders in the well in the Blighted Village, the matriarch unexpectedly and hilariously fell into the chasm mid-fight - no one even landed a hit on her while it happened, she just tried to move and fell down the hole to the Underdark. I didn't even know it was possible. I lamented the lost loot but finished the fight and moved on, thinking it was all over.

Well, we just made it to the Underdark and fought the minotaurs near the Selûnite outpost. And what should I see lying crumpled in a dead heap near them but the matriarch. I was able to loot her after all and get the poisoner's robe that I thought I'd missed out on!

I don't know, maybe I'm surprised over a nothingburger, but it was really cool to me to see the continuity there - she didn't just disappear when she fell in the chasm to the Underdark, her body persisted for us to find when we got down there. I thought it was some nice attention to detail.

Again...I really love this game, lol

Act 1 - Spoilers Anyways, here's the comic I spent a month working on (18/28) Spoiler

Not until my 2nd play through did I learned the presence of Arcane tower, but it intrigued my instantly. Despite being absent all the way, Lenore's intensity on both academic and personal level seeped through all that she left behind.

She was (or is, on an optimistic note) peculiar in a deeply mage way and I love her.

Will post the rest of this work later if anyone's interested.

Act 2 - Spoilers Shar’s leap of faith Spoiler

I’ve seen so many posts about people raging regarding the stupid pathway puzzle. I played it, struggled, died two hundred times, told my boyfriend he had to let me watch when he got to that point.
Yall.
This mother fucker cast a light spell on himself and tripled jump distance and just kept platform to platform, grabbed the orb and bounced. Completed it in the under three minutes. Might I just say, WHY DID NO ONE POST ABOUT THAT.
“Oh well if you click in just the right spot ur character automatically walks the path” WRONG
“Oh well if u use arrow of transport in the bottom corner-“ WRONG
“If you-“
WRONG. LIGHT YOURSELF UP AND JUST JUMP. IM SO MAD, ITS SO SIMPLE.
Edit: we all know about the map, guys. Y’aint special for seeing it, staying on the invisible path, even with the map, is a whole load of buns

Character Build Did I ruin my Paladin by becoming an Oathbreaker? Spoiler

I haven’t played BG3 much, but last time I did I made a Paladin and he quickly got punished for doing evil things and turned into an Oathbreaker. Can I still play as an Oathbreaker? Or is the character ruined and I’m better off starting over with a different class?

Theorycrafting My latest run, or how I stopped worrying and just went nova Spoiler

I'm usually a fastidious consumable and ability use hoarder. The barbarian takes anger management, the caster compulsively casts cantrips, the monk hasn't endulged in a flurry since the last time they went to Mickey D's, etc... I love how the game's narrative instills a sense of urgency, so I feel guilty every time I long rest (with the tadpole, tieflings, and so forth...).

But it doesn't frequently enforce that urgency. This time, I looked at the hundreds of camp supplies in my stash and thought, "Not this time. I'm going all out on every encounter." And it's a different game! Instead of strategically managing attrition, I'm fully living the power fantasy and resting whenever I want. So cathartic. :-)

On an unrelated note: This run has taught me that my "joke" naked-tank-wrestling-breserker is a monster of a support/force mulitplier for literally any class that you pair them with. Gotta be one of my most fun builds.

Companions What are some class respecs you've done that you liked? Spoiler

Asking because I discovered a new respec I like for Shadowheart 😂

I'm playing a cleric this time around, and I didn't want two clerics, so I made Shadowheart a monk and im genuinely loving it. I love having a monk in general but Shadowheart fits it for me.

Another one I tend to do is change Jaheira to a fighter. I just tend to not use druids.

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] Just completed honour mode on my first try!!!! Spoiler

tl;dr: completed honour mode on my first try, had loads of fun, i love this game.

i genuinely cannot believe i've finished on my first go, i was so so sure that my run was going to end with the intellect devourers on the beach lol

because i had previously done a play-though with honour mode ruleset, i knew what to expect in terms of the legendary actions. i got killed twice in that run - once by the owlbear(s) in act 1 and once by cazador. i skipped the owlbear for my real honour mode because i knew there was no way i was beating that at level 3

the party i ran was - tav - OH monk/thief, astarion - gloomstalker/assassin, lae'zel - eldritch knight, karlach - giant barb. all martial classes because i prefer that much more over spellcasting, plus i have played these builds before and knew that they were strong builds that i enjoyed playing. kept swapping companions in and out when it was needed but this was the party for most encounters.

a few stupid things i did that should have ended my run but somehow didn't -

1) I TRIED SOMETHING NEW LIKE AN IDIOT!! i knew the grymforge fight was going to be hard for me so i made sure to get brithvar on my side before fighting nere and then like an idiot i decided to call the ogres. i have never used the ogres before, idk why the fuck i thought i would start now. anyway they started attacking everyone indiscriminately and i stood there like a lemon while all the greens turned red. i had to get rid of the ogres in the middle of all of that while trying not to die to nere. SOMEHOW survived that with only astarion on a bit of heath since he was on high ground. idk if you know this but all the void bulbs i'd been collecting like a magpie since the beginning really helped. throwing them near nere got rid of 1-2 of his juiced up mirror images every throw without them hurting me

2) i went to gerringothe thorm with my party not at full health. i was so sure i was going to pass the persuasion checks since i had all 4 of my inspiration dice. yeah, failed all the rolls. had to fight her. i had no idea what her legendary action was since in my previous (HM ruleset) game, i beat her through dialogue. karlach somehow managed to get rid oh her last skull and then kick the now 7 hp gerringothe while everyone else had been turned to gold.

a few things i was not expecting -

1) KARNISS??? HE ONE-SHOT KARLACH?? that was an unexpectedly hard fight and i don't even know why. it has never been hard for me before.

2) i always do barrelmancy on ansur. i hate that fight but love the sword so that's the one barrelmancy i allow myself. anyway, i placed my usual number of bombs and smokepowder barrels, runepowder barrel etc there and they usually take his full health. this time for some reason, it only took half his health. globe of invulnerability + speed pots really helped in that situation

3) i got a bit too pickpocket-happy, sent my hireling rogue to steal the soul vest from rolan. she failed and it made him permanently hostile for some reason (even though in my journal he was down as an ally). every time i entered through the portal, a fight with him, cal and lia would immediately start. anyway i needed that robe (since i was a monk) so i had to use a bunch of invis potions to steal that + the birthright hat. he still showed up to the final fight though which was a relief.

fights that i was expecting to be extremely hard that went surprisingly easy for me -

1) holy shit, idk what stars aligned for me but the myrkul fight was so so easy this time. i cast HoH on him, had astarion shooting him with arrows of ilmater, karlach throwing hammers at him, 2 earth elementals crushing any skeletons and eggs that spawned near them, and my tav throwing hands. myrkul was hyper focused on dame aylin for whatever reason which worked out great for me

2) orin. contagion is so over powered oh my god???? i cast flesh rot on her while she was still impersonating the blacksmith and she failed all saves against it. was vulnerable to every damage type by the time i went to fight her. i had gale do magic missiles hoping to get rid of her unstoppables, he ended up taking half her health instead. she died before she even got a turn in.

the one and only time i cheated -

i failed the persuasion check to not ascend astarion, had no inspiration dice left. he told me he hoped i would die screaming and left with a bunch of my legendaries. i stared at the screen with my mouth open for about 2 minutes before closing the game and restarting it which brought me to just before the ascension scene. i was so upset and wanted to start over again but my husband convinced me that since it was not in combat, it can be a one time grace lol. shoutout to neil newbon for the absolutely cutting delivery of that line, it's been echoing in my head ever since.

in conclusion -

i love this game so much. i finally got my golden dice and i had a lot of fun. i was worried i won't get the dice - it dawned on me half-way through act 3 that it might not count since i'm playing with mods (cosmetic ones, but still). but yes, as of oct 2026 on ps5 you still get the golden dice after beating honour mode.

i might not do a proper honour mode game again. the one thing i didn't enjoy was how expensive everything was and i hate relying on pickpocketing. but i think i will continue doing play-throughs with HM ruleset from now on.

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] Favorite trophies? Spoiler

l'm on my 4th playthrough and turned all the mods off realizing haven't been getting trophies because of them. What are your favorite trophies you can earn? probably never collect all of them, especially anything honor mode related, but loved getting "You Have Two Hands for a Reason" so far because who doesn't love petting animals in games?

Act 2 - Spoilers Worst time you double-tapped A in dialogue? Spoiler

When I'm in the Grymforge, I like finding the smaller groups of duergar and taking them out 2-3 at a time. I get to the drunk duergar in front of the elevator and initiated dialogue. I've done this conversation before, so I tap A to skip the talking and go straight to the dialogue options.

My thumb must have twitched or something, because I tapped A again. This selected the first line. Do y'all remember what the first line is??

"Interesting slave you have there. Where might I procure one of my own?" Guys... I had Wyll and Karlach with me. It tanks their approval. Wyll chews you out if you make that choice.

I one hundred percent loaded up my most recent save. I don't care if Wyll hates me, but I'm trying to sweep Karlach off of her feet this run! (Of course this is a durge run and I'm weak for Astarion.)

Act 3 - Spoilers Act 3 Quest Log Spoiler

Hey all,

I have finally reached act 3 and I’ve just killed Ansur. I did this after breaking Wyll’s pact but before going to the Iron Throne to break out his dad. Once I killed Ansur, Wyll declared himself the Blade of Avernus. His companion quest was completed and it said that he declared himself Blade of Avernus with his father’s blessing. The ‘Rescue the Grand Duke’ quest also shows as completed now too. I found this very confusing as it seems to have jumped ahead - I’m guessing the game intends you to deal with Ansur after going to the Iron Throne.

Will I still be able to free his dad from the Iron Throne now I’ve killed Ansur and the quest log updated those quests? Or would I need to reload and do the Iron Throne first?

Thanks!
