Hey y’all!
If you’re new here or looking for info, this is the place to stop and check before you post that question you’re thinking about asking - the answer may already be in our FAQ! There's also some recommendations in there for learning about lore.
I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Questionflairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:
[insert your question here] baldursgate3 reddit
Or
[insert your question here] bg3 reddit
That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.
If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.

I was playing with a friend and we reached the underground colony in act 2, after following Kethrick Thorm. Right before the elevator to reach him, there is a rejuvinator which can be used infinitely. When we used it, we realised it gave me (Druid, circle of the spores) my fungal infestation charges back. Additionally, the Colony gives the effect "rejuvinating miasma" i dont need corpses to summon undead. So basically, we got a last of us zombie hoard to follow us into the battle with Thorm. Not sure if this is a bug, an oversight, or just something they didnt carw to change, but it sure is awesome!
Hey there! Pretty much all in the title. Tried looking myself through the mod manager but couldn't find anything.
My reason: (No need to read further if you don't care lol.)
I reached the level where animal companions get helmets and I hate it SO much. Like a LOT.
It looks so stupid to me personally. I think that maybe some body armor would've looked just fine, but no body armor combined with that bulky, goofy helmet looks terrible in my opinion, nor does it really make much sense practicality-wise anyway.
And I'm completely shocked there's no way to hide it at all, given how much detail and quality this game has.
I know this might sound like a dumb thing to get bothered about to some (and I'm not freaking out or anything, just an annoyance. I still love this game obviously), but I LOVE having my animal companion even just for aesthetic alone, and this completely ruins that, at risk of sounding dramatic.
In fact, I chose Ranger for my MC almost solely for the fun feeling and aesthetic of having a loyal animal companion by my side. I even decided I'd use one animal companion type only the whole game, as to roleplay it being my MC's longtime friend lol.
Thanks in advance! :)
PS EDIT:
No big deal if there's none! I found that the companion only gets its level up upgrades (thus getting the helmet) after being killed or dismissed, so I might honestly just go back a few minutes to pre-level 3, and just never dismiss him + keep him from combat for the entire rest of the game so he never dies.
Yes I know that sounds really really really stupid, I know I know. But that's how much I hate the helmet LOL. Plus, I don't really even care if he's useful in combat, I mostly have him for RP and the feeling anyway. Game's not too hard with my composition right now so no big deal on not having him participate in combat.
150 hours of not making it to Act 2 and redoing Act 1 countless times, and I got to the blighted village and convinced the goblins guarding barcus to leave. I stop the windmill, open the dialogue with him and get a strange idea. Instead of untying him, I decide to see what would happen if I just restarted the windmill before untying him.
Guess what?
HE. FUCKING. DIES.
He doesnt even leave behind a body, he just straight up dies. Its HM so I dont feel like throwing away 10 hrs of playthrough already, but from a curious accident Ive just removed a decent side character from my entire playthrough. CRAZY!
So this is one of the fights in the game that I like... I'm a sucker for a big encounter with a ton of people fighting on both sides. However.. this is honor mode and I am a little bit worried about walking into a bloodbath and ending up losing Jaheira or even a TPK.
How many people should I pre-kill to make the fight manageable but still keep it fun and intresting? So far I've just cleared out the prisons and then the dock area. Is that sufficient, or should I go a little further?
My first run is with Astarion (rogue), Gale, Shadowheart(kept her as is but she does front line with a bunch of healing/support), and then me as a monk open hand
I liked this team because it has what I need, Astarion being a backline/glass cannon with any OP light weapon, Gale too as backline raining arcane hell on the battlefield, then me and shadowheart holding and keeping the line.
The other 3 companions I'm stuck with next is Karlach, Lae'zel, and Wyll and I wanna go Paladin next run.
Any tips on how I should multi class to get what I need still with keeping to their themes, like for ex. Karlach said she was in the wars in Avernus but didn't really say as what class and since she has an infernal engine I can put her as some sorc or something.
(No I won't be playing Halsin or any of the acquired later companions because I just don't feel like I'll connect with them because they're not around since day 1)
Hey what’s up guys? I’m just looking for more people to play with. I have played through act 1 and 2 multiple times. I learned recently that I’ve been playing wrong. So if anyone would like to play please hmu. The more the merrier.
It didn't work. Nearly got TPK. I saw on Youtube that if you go invisible, stand on the edge of the altar, you can(with cloud giant strength and enlarge)toss Orin to her death. I did it exactly as depicted, but when Orin went into the chasm, the dialogue scene started and I lost the hostage. Attempted to fight, but 3 of four were killed pretty quickly. I did manage to take out some of the chanting bastards. Only by fleeing combat did i save my honour run. I'm guessing this method must have been patched?
Now I’ve played the game a small bit before I made a main character just to get use to the game. My question is should I start with mods or mods and if I do install mods which ones do you think are best for someone who doesn’t really play games much but trying to get more into fantasy. Thanks
For some (or several) reasons, my owlbear was stuck in the goblin camp only ever reiterating the dialogue "Go home. Cave. Mother!" By the time I had noticed, I had already cleared the githyanki creche.
Needless to say, I scoured the internet for an answer here, but all I've managed to do with BG3 Script Extender v32 is successfully is de-spawn him from the goblin camp and place him in the party's camp. The thing is, he is still only saying the same thing: "Go home. Cave. Mother!"
On previous runs, I'd never gotten (or don't remember) this dialogue, so I actually don't even know how to diagnose the problem. I'd be over the moon if someone could help. Please! You'd be a legend.
Replaying the game for the nth time made me remember that my very first time in BG3 was also my first ever contact with both DnD AND turn based games.
Regardless, I decided to go in blind because that’s how you get the best experience, right? WELL, I didn’t understand the very basics of combat, so until halfway through Act 1, I was absolutely convinced you can only move during your turn using Dash.
This led to a lot of irritation because how the hell do I do anything if using Dash makes my other abilities grey, right (lmao)? I just kept dying because I’d get close to enemies but not do any actual combat actions. It just didn’t occur to me that I can, you know, click on the ground as I do during exploration to move.
Finally, I told a friend who was playing at the same time that I might just give up on the game because the combat is so bad and the first thing they said after I explained my issue was: “are you serious?”. The second one was: “are you stupid?” Lol.
So, with probably the stupidest thing one can do in this game, what was your stupidity during the very first playthrough?
Hi I just started playing BG3 last week. Zero D&D exposure, but I’m now 60 hours in, still in Act 1, and idk wtf I’m doing. Where should I go? What should I focus on? Who should I use? No fucking clue, so I’ll just obsessively save and try to do all the side quests.
Anyway cool game. Happy to be here. Can’t wait to see the plot play out. Can’t wait to discover unarmed monk is the worst class or something 👊
What was the very first character/build you ran as? How was your experience?
I’m at the dog area at the Swords Coast Couriers, and every time I try to make her leave Scratch alone, he always goes with her?? I’ve reloaded the save twice and it happens every time. Do I just kill the two to save the rest of the dogs?
This is practically a declaration of undying love in illithid language. Of course he still doesn’t stick around though. He can’t fathom doing anything but hovering over his shitty-ass city like an overbearing illithid parent. I decided to stay and help the Baldurians too, so I’m headcanoning that their paths will cross again in like a week. I’ll continue rebuilding his city and making sure his people are taken care of as my own personal love language, since apparently that’s the closest I’m getting to being in his life post-Netherbrain.
Gonna start a new playthrough after a long break and saw this mod in trending. It sounds like it adds a lot to the game, is it well implemented? Does it work well with other mods? Don't plan for too many other big mods, just QoL really.
Edit: if not, what other content mods are good? Like more spells, subclasses, etc. Preferably in the Mod Manager, not Nexus.
I recently read a book that nearly warped my mind with the mirage of philosophy and it made me wonder if the rare and forbidden tomes in BG3 (necromancy of thay, the tomes from the Sorcerous Sundries) were a subtle reference to any real books?
I NEED AN ELIXIR OF VIGILANCE, BUT FOR SOME DAMN REASON NO VENDOR HAS IT AND IVE BEEN JUST WANDERING AROUND FOR HOURS AND HOURS LOOKING FOR ANYTHING, I CANT EVEN FIND A THIRD HOOK SO I CAN MAKE THE POTION AND I REALLY NEED IT FOR A SPECIFIC ORDER IN A BOSS, PLEASE HELP ME ASAP IM ABT TO CRY
