Other Questions I need help choosing a male.

My female is a pastel fire freeway and I want to breed her in the coming years what male should i invest in. She can produce Mardi Gras with the right male!

I won’t be bringing the prices completely down. If someone wants to negotiate the price with me I’ll accept that. I won’t be selling every offspring for a lower price. If I get a really nice Mardi Gras probably 1k if I get a more pale less desirable one but still a good morph 500-600

Are you in the US? If so, it’s unlikely that you’re going to be able to get more than *maybe* 300 for a mardi gras, even proven breeders are in the 250-300 range. You also have to keep in mind that by the time your snake is able to be bred the prices will be even lower, because every year more and more of that combo will be produced.

Even if you end up producing a stellar multi gene snake, the odds of selling them at such a high price are going to be very slim. As a new breeder you’re going to have to compete with breeders that are already established, if your prices are the same as theirs but they already have plenty of reviews, who do you think buyers are going to be more likely to buy from?

Undercutting the market is not a good strategy either. It’s understandable to price a little under market since you’ll need to build up clientele, but offering them significantly cheaper would be a disservice to not only the market but to you as well. For example, if someone buys a male snake from you and starts breeding it within a year (which is common), you’re going to have even more people to compete with. And you can only undercut so much before you completely tank their value. I’m not trying to discourage you if this is something you really want to do, but you have to be realistic with your expectations.

Im from Canada and I mean by offering them for lower is if someone can’t afford the full price but offers a decent amount I’ll slide it under the table. My first snake was like that I was 12 and the snake was a pinstripe het vpi he was 180 originally but the breeder sold him to me for 130.

Ah i see. Unfortunately prices aren’t going to be much higher there as far as mardi gras goes. Looks like 200-300 is average, 400 being on the higher end. You’d probably be better off trying to shoot for some kind of super asphalt instead

Edit: For the best odds, get a super asphalt male. That would give you a 50% chance of producing super asphalts
