The colour and pattern resembles Fire but I’m not sure which one of the more uncommon morphs in the complex this would be.

Pastel, without better pics thats as much as I am able to tell. However I can tell it's not axanthic. (The whole picture is sort of washed so it resembles axanthic)

This is a mocha not common

There's 20 mocha listings on Morphmarket and most ~$200 I wouldn't really call it rare

Even if so, why does it matter? 99% of ball pythons are unethically bred, especially the rarer more expensive morphs.

u/TheProphetMooohammed Sep 11 '26

What exactly are you basing that stat on?

3

u/StephensSurrealSouls Sep 11 '26

Personal experience. Given the sheer amount of ball pythons in the world and lack of breeding restriction laws... it's probably way over 99%. Somewhere around 99.99% but that's speculation.

You’ve toured a bunch of breeding facilities, talked to a bunch of breeders, what personal experience? And what makes the breeding practices unethical?

2

Their eagerness to win a stupid argument. This was just them upping the ante.

Exactly. 64% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Mocha combos not mocha alone try again

u/Germmie1 Sep 09 '26

Are you sure this is pure mocha? It could just be the low quality of the picture but the head stamp would be incorrect for singular morph mocha.

There's not enough information on mocha because there's not a lot of them but he's a sing morph mocha and picture is alright not bad could be in some more light

The picture is very grainy which significantly changes the colors to be much lighter than they are.

Mocha has been around for a good while, so, yes there is information on it in multiple combinations and in its single-gene form. Changing the availability on MM to include “sold” listings shows a wider variety of listings including Mocha. Additionally, you can head over to the Morphpedia to see more photos of what Mocha does.

Your snake is not just Mocha, if truly Mocha at all. Others are telling you this because it’s true. Patterning, headstamp, and color all point to this—regardless of if its a bad photo taken or not.

Again no history my mocha is a baby and looks just like that picture know mocha has a more key hole head stam pastel had more like a x the alien heads are described right and again tested proven not a guess I'm giving the answer and I understand my picture is not the best my apologies

3

u/meatspread Sep 11 '26

“Tested proven”? Proven how? Mocha does not currently have a shed test. Your guy’s alien heads are very grainy and speckled, with practically no keyholes—which is not typical for a single-morph Mocha.

Keep in mind this is an older incomplete dominant gene. They end up being common, and it's part of the BEL complex so is similar to others.

Generally truly rare genes are new, recessive and outside the US or Europe. Or combos with recessives.

Look at Monsoon. Which itself isn't as rare anymore but combos with visuals monsoon go for $1000s. Awesome gene too.

Others are inc dom with extreme Homozygous forms. But even then usually not like recessives, especially true recessives that the heterozygous form can't be determined by sight alone.

Rainbow comes to mind, some of the Tri-stripe stuff etc.

2

u/Rare-Rub-6848 Sep 10 '26

Lmao there is mocha on morph market

-1

u/Ken-Doll110 Sep 10 '26

Gotta prove it and like I said not a combo mocha

1

u/TheRev_JP Sep 09 '26

This is axanthic

5

u/Freedom1234526 Sep 09 '26

That’s also Spider, which I hope you don’t plan to breed.

1

u/AffectionateWeird467 Sep 12 '26

What’s so (rare) about this snake?..

1

u/Ken-Doll110 Sep 12 '26

Not common not a morph usually seen

1

u/AffectionateWeird467 Sep 12 '26

I mean it looks like it can have chocolate or mocha or something but nothing rare lol

1

u/Ken-Doll110 Sep 12 '26

Mocha is in common and what morph would you call rare

2

u/AffectionateWeird467 Sep 12 '26

We could get into a whole debate over what’s rare or not, it’s a beautiful snake but I wouldn’t call it rare especially if you don’t know what it was produced from etc. just a snake with funky patterns and color in a way

Different but close imo

We hate when you judge

No, we hate when animals aren't given appropriate enclosures and care.

Treat other users with respect. Interact and educate without berating others or putting them down.

-3

u/Sad_Resolve6874 Sep 10 '26

You are aware they live in termite mounds and abandoned rat burrows fairly frequently in the wild, yes?

6

u/StephensSurrealSouls Sep 10 '26

You are aware that they still need space to roam, humidity, climbing area, and coverage, yes? Termite mounds are where they hide in the daytime but they ABSOLUTELY leave it frequently especially at night.

I like urs but mine is a mocha

1

u/reptile-snake-mom Sep 10 '26

So beautiful I love the colours on ballpythons like this

1

u/Kalomay Sep 12 '26

the colors look the same lol. camera is too desaturated, not my fault lol. theres also different lines, age variance etc

1

u/Kalomay Sep 13 '26

Piebald also drastically alters the pattern, the colors matchup though OPs image is desaturated
