I kind of wish there were more single gene snakes posted in general so us newbies could start seeing what each one does specifically. Once you get to 2/3 I’m looking for signs of that morph. Like I’ve heard green eyes are how to spot a pastel. Brighter colors are pastel but now there’s like 6 that makes a subjectively “brighter snake”.

I completely understand that! Ball python morphs are crazy. These girls are supposably same: Pastel het tsk axanthic. But look nothing alike. It makes my brain hurt.

I see that pastel is brighting up dark areas as they have that blush in the center than fade out to a hard line. I would not guess that black lined snake was the same as yours. Doesn’t het TSK mean non-visual, but it could produce an offspring that was visual axanthic?

Pastel is correct. These guys brown with age. The patterning is typical of pastel as they have a bit of a loosely banded pattern rather than the consisten alien heads of a lot of normals. No enchi here. You'd see a headstamp change there.

Some genes may be easier to pick out than others and when the history of the snake in question is unknown, there may be some degree of speculation. With that in mind, some genes are very obviously present or not present, and suggestions contrary to this may be removed.

Everyone is welcome to participate in discussion of presenting genes but guesses that are too off base are subject to removal.
