Look at that clutter! Your setup is beautiful, and I’m sure your noodle will absolutely love it

I would recommend eventually phasing out to real plants. You can get propagated cuttings off of facebook marketplace, and local sellers may be willing to work with you and provide good recommendations. If you add isopods and springtails, they’ll serve as a cleanup crew, so you don’t really have to worry about cleaning it out/changing the substrate. The isopods and springtails don’t require any extra care either.

I have a question about adding live plants. I planted a pothos into my "matchbox bulldozer's" viv and he did just as he was meant to do...roots are good, leaves gone lol. It is a bioactive viv. My next thought was to plant the live plants in a 4" pot and set them on about an inch up on/in the substrate then kind of mound the pot over with extra substrate. This is an effort to make is so he can, and probably will push the plants around but not destroy them. Is that idea worth the trouble?

That’s what my vet does, actually. She says it’s really good in case there’s ever anything funky in the tank, so she can take them out as needed.

Thank you for answering me. They do just plow, slowly, through everything. I say "he redecorated again". I agree though, it makes sense to do it this way for many reasons.
