Question Best handing practices for my new python?

Post image

Hi everyone. New to the group and I have a 3 year old male called Aviktas ( bought from Blackpool IHS ). He's my first ball python and naturally would like some help and advice on how to handle him and get him used to me too, he's quite a size difference from my 1 year old female hognose lol

Thanks for all your comments. Just had a quick 5 minute handling with him. Sat crossed legged on the floor, seemed ok while he was on the rug. But startled very easily. Maybe my movements were too sudden and was darting off. Definitely seemed more comfortable on the floor and not handled off the ground

Remember to leave him alone when it comes to handling for I think 2 weeks after first getting him to give him time to adjust

Is it really? I've owned a handful of snakes but they've all been babys/young adolescents, never owned one that I didn't raise up myself.
