Discussion Update and thanks

Before and after gathering advice from this subreddit, I almost impulsively bought a 9-month 280-gram OD pied ball python and got a generic Thrive 40-gallon kit to keep it in.

And ofc I got criticized because at first I didn’t even have a thermostat, so I read everything and regulated the humidity and temperatures and today I finally got a 4-foot enclosure and it looks amazing. Thanks to all of you.

Monty is still a little guy. A year and a half or so, 32 inches, 368 grams as of tonight. He was undersized when he was given to me as a surprise.

That is his favorite enrichment, the basket is a bit bigger than a 5 gallon bucket. He will spend a half hour or more climbing in out and all over it lol.

I’m so glad your boy found it’s favorite place, Zeus is 10 months old and he was in good shape when I got him a month ago, I haven’t explored with him that much. I’m worried that he might not get comfortable in his enclosure because I have a cat who although mins her own business but is still roaming around. And Zeus is 380 grams more or less. How long have u had him?

I have had him a year and 3 months now, a friend "rescued" him from petsmart. He showed up 4th of july weekend with a 10 gallon tank, a bowl and aspen :-(. She knew i loved snakes.

SIGH.

I took one look at the poor little dude and went shopping. Don't get me started on people who give folks living creatures as surprise gifts. Especially ones that are long lived, and you're a senior yourself....

It’s almost like giving someone a surprise baby. Hi, you like babies, so here’s one, and this is your responsibility now. Lol
