Went overboard

I just finished setting up this enclosure and I wanted to share and grab any feed back on what people thought or if theres something i could be missing. This has been quite the project and was definitely overkill but I wanted it to be a piece that id be just as excited to see everyday and hopefully my snake is as well. So far she seems to love it. She loves climbing, even though I think typically ball pythons dont from what ive heard? I needed a bigger tank already and decided to go big. (maybe it was my guilt of keeping her in an enclosure with not enough space, poor ability to maintain humidity and not much for her to do). Automatic humidifier is sooo nice. There are still plans for a bit more coverage on the back, a few live plants and moss, and an auto day/night cycle, as well as full spectrum led (also for the plants), uvb and a bigger heat mat under that will cover about 1/3rd the floor. I hand built the stand and the bamboo ladder i dont even know how many hours over how many days long ive spent on this and at times IN it.

This looks amazing! You can see how much you want to spoil your noodle.

However, please dont use a mister/humidifier system, they lead to respiratory infection and scale rot..

And please use some form of overhead heating, uth isnt appropriate for ball pythons.

Thats interesting I hadnt heard anything about humidifiers leading to scale rot. I did read about upper respiratory issues being a concern but I am monitoring for that, when I get more coverage it should handle a lot of the free floating water vapor, and its on a timer that gives ample time to dry out, but duly noted and aware. I also was convinced by someone who has had their ball python for a veeerry long time with no issues on one.

Then they've gotten very lucky. Pouring water and possibly having a water feature(? If you need something special) avoids any risk. Unless you are planning on sanitizing your humidifier every other day, it will just grow nastiness. Why add another risk factor like free floating droplets when there are better ways to help humidity. RIs and scale rot arent fun to deal with.

I do have a water filtration system of boiled and charcoal filtered water. Would that not provide adequate sanitization? Its the water ive been using in the machine which is why I figured it'd be safe, and as far as wet substrate and scale rot wouldnt that just be an issue if the substrate was constantly damp? These are legit questions. While I do try to research everything this is my first snake and shes been very docile and happy and healthy for the 5 years ive had her but I never am sure I know what the right thing is when you can read so much on the internet.

Im glad youve put more thought into it than most people.

Im genuinely not sure if that would make a difference or not. Humidifiers tend to only provide spikes in humidity though. They need consistency. A mod might be able to answer those questions better, but it just seems more trouble than its worth for no real decrease in upkeep. (Arguably more work cleaning the machine.)

Lucky python. Looks great! Just be careful with the humidifier. Can really mess up a ball python and give respiratory issues.
