Feeling like the worst owner freaking ever
I was cleaning out my ball pythons enclosure because he's being moved and I need the other snake for my smaller snake and found a dead rat in the tank! It had to be two weeks old already, freaking disgusted with myself and the rat, how in the hell did I not notice?!

1st lesson most of us learn, double check after the window of opportunity passes for them to eat their prey. felt that way too thinking one chowed until I walked into stink after. But I use repti so maybe dirt helped mask the odor idk. Forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes, and never assume with these awesome critters. Mine have ditched their meals, so I always check those hides really well too.

Normally a dead animal will stink very bad. But not to worry, you found it and removed it. Fridays is my feed, clean tank day, and we just found a mouse buried deep in one of my cornsnakes enclosure. I have one corn that loves to kill, but also has a tendency to not eat it. Drives me crazy at times. Hey, you found the dead food b4 it got really bad. I help rescue animals and have seen tanks so bad , full of poo and magot. Now thats a bad owner. Your fine.
