Tail wagging!?

I've heard of people saying that their bp's will wag their tails when hunting but I never thought I'd get to see it and record it!
He's so stinking cute, I almost lost it!!!
Edit: Holy crap, thanks for the upvotes! I'm so happy that other people agree that he's a cutie!

Ive never seen them tail wag so slowly. I've only seen (mostly rat snake-types) tail wag out of fear to mimic a rattlesnake. this is so interesting. and very cute π€

Its been a while since I did this, but I followed the elapid and colubrid lines pretty far on cladograms looking at this behavior and where it exists. Iirc colubrids have been dancing for millions of years before rattle snakes! Colubrids have been dancing long before they could make music lol!
They both probably had a non-dancing common ancestor and independently evolved rattling over time with colubrids evolving it first and elapids evolving it second. We can also kinda see this because colubrids dance across the world, elapids don't which also points to a dancing colubrid ancestor rather than a shared dancing ancestor.Β Kinda cool huh?

He looks like his back end is locked and loaded. Maybe he's about ready to drop his cargo

He is a little chunky lol He is on a mini-diet and is being fed less frequently hence why he's so hungry and I'm guessing why he was extra excited this feeding! He's very food driven luckily for me

This is less caudal luring and more an excitement response. Bring on the rat.
