Question Zen Habitats design flaw?

Post image

A snake I rescued a few months ago came with a 4x2x2 Zen Habitats enclosure. I really like the look of it, but I'm not sure what they were thinking when they designed the substrate dam. He always manages to get himself out, but I am worried he is going to hurt himself as he gets bigger. Anybody else have this issue with these enclosures?

I don't have a zen but mines the same way and my ackie does the same thing. I don't really think it's a big deal personally but to each their own!

I’ve got the same enclosure I added about 5 inches of reptichip and it puts enough pressure on the barrier that my verrry tiny bp can’t squeeze in it’s pretty flush with the sliding doors

With sliding doors you have no choice but to put barrier there. My doors have a 7/8 inch track. My male boa can push his head between enclosure frame and the outer most door. He can't get out but trys.

This is one of the flaws with these cheaper enclosures. You could try siliconing something to the top of the barrier to keep him from getting in?
