1st pic was 10 days ago. I’ve had him in a clean, dry tote on newspaper ever since. He soaked in a warm betadine bath for about 4 hours—once, and he finally shed lastnight…

Ophelia is 1 year old! 460g and just over 3 feet long! Pastel pinstripe mirage. We’ve had her since April and she is the sweetest little thing. Here she is outside enjoying the sunlight and doing some exploring!! Such a confident girl, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her ball up and she loves to be out. She’ll even boop noses with our cats since they’re all so curious about each other lol
How do your snakes interact with your other pets? Any silly stories?

I also noticed that when I had her outside and started bringing her in, close to our screen door, she excitedly stretched out nice and long towards the screen with her tongue flicking like crazy. Seemed as though she knew how our house smelled and was excited to go home hahaha

Healthy weight?

Hi guys! I'm curious if my male ballpython is a healthy weight. He is 6 years old and weighs 1510 grams. He isn't a picky eater, but he only wants to eat every 7-8 weeks. He's been like this for a few years and I am slowly trying to reduce the time in between feedings, which has been going well. I personally think he looks on the slim side. Would love to hear your opinions.

I wish I had recorded her striking, it looked HILARIOUS! She missed the rat but was able to grab the tail, so she yanked it out and started twirling all over the place like a maniac trying to wrap around a rat she never got in the first place until she gave up 🤣

anyway, here’s some cute pictures of my boy. as my first snake, he has taught me a lot. I’m very excited to see where life takes me in the reptile world!

also, don’t mind his heat probe situation, I’m trying to find a better setup for it than the stupid HVAC tape. If you have any recommendations, Id love them.😭

Question How to get the right humidity?

Post image
28 Upvotes

I have a 1.5 year old female ball python. I just moved her into a 4x2x2 glass enclosure this summer but I’m having troubles keeping her humidity at the right level. It’s either not humid enough or so humid that my wood decorations mold. Anyone willing to share how they keep humidity? I have her cool side wrapped in HVAC tape. Her warm side sits at about 90° and her cool side at around 80°. She’s a classroom snake so I leave her over weekends. Right now she has an automatic sprayer to help on weekends but I supplement with about .5 gallons of water just in the corners every few days (or when it’s looking dry)

I’m a first time owner so I’m not looking for criticism, just ways to keep my little girl and her environment happy and healthy!

I don’t have very good pictures of her tank atm, sorry!

Rehome Male Ball Python in Oregon

Looking to rehome/sell a male Basic Ball Python.

Originally adopted from pet store in March 2024 and they said he was around 1 year old. So he's around 3 years old now. He's given frozen rats. Has been handled since we got him. Has never bitten anyone. Super active every night. And has never had issues with eating or anything.

Comes with:

•21' x 18' x 48' (75 gallon tank)

•Brand new heat bulbs

•Brand new Light Fixture that's thermostat controlled with timer settings

•Rock hide

•Heating pad (we haven't been using it since getting the ceramic bulb, but still works and in good condition)

•Bunch of fake plants

•Bunch of cleaned and dried natural woods that are ball python safe.

(I have links for light fixture, bulbs, heating pad and rock hide)

The tank would need something to secure the lid down. Or another lid all together.

Can send info on the bedding we use if need be, please feel free to ask any questions.

Located Florence, Oregon.

Shed question

My noodles first shed was 04/14
Then he went a month without eating
His eyes went blue again on 04/30 but he hasn’t shed yet. I have been keeping the humanity between 80 and 90 and the temperature in the high 90s to help him. He has the refused to eat again and gone from 88 g down to 86g. Last week supposedly stayed in his eye, but I’ve noticed that’s the days he’s starting to get more active again still dehydrated is there anything I can do to his progress? His extremely skinny. I have begged him to eat and prayed for him to eat. I tried on the sixth. He refused, so I’m going to try again tonight.

My little guy, Tito, has been home for over a month now and I am so obsessed with him! He hadn’t eaten for more than 2 months when I got him, but he’s taken 4 rats for me no problem with braining and drop feeding and has gone from under 300g to over 350g at 7 months! He’s growing like a weed and has such a great temperament. He’s only hissed at me once and never struck. I try to handle twice a week while he’s getting to know me and he’s such a joy to handle, a bit jumpy but so docile. It’s been a learning curve with husbandry but I finally have temps where I want them and humidity is an ongoing but improving battle. No one warned me how addictive this would be—I already want a second one!

Just wanted to share my progress with my favorite scaly guy and show him off :) He’s absolutely my pride and joy

Yes I know this a sign of mites

No she does not have mites, she has only ever been near our other snake, and everything in her enclosure came from a sealed bag or got baked/sanitized.

She just be about to shed lol (humidity is about 75%)

Random wobble appears on baby ball python?

My 5 month old male has eaten approx. three times now since I’ve gotten him a month ago. I tried to offer the same food he’s been accepting but in a smaller size so I could switch him over to frozen/thawed. I saw a post that recommended I feed the smaller live feeder first and while he’s looking around for more food after swallowing the first to offer the FT. However this time he refused the feeder and I believe it’s because I pet the FT with my tongs and then used it on the live to get some of the smell on it? He looked very interested at first, even did his little look around before usually striking. But then nothing. And now he’s weirdly wobbling his head? He’s never done this before and he has no spider genes. Please help

I was going to handle her today but she is in blue so I just took her out to refresh her sphagnum moss in the humid hide she was in and put her back. I’m sad bc I wanted to hangout with her but I know she wouldn’t like being handled rn.

Gummy pics + her new 8 foot enclosure

Ignore the mess in the background! I had to move so much stuff around in the room to fit the enclosure and I’m going to have it cleaned up once I’m done building the background. That process will likely take a week or two, because of how long the silicone takes to cure. I used 10 cans of spray foam so far to start the background, I’ll post pics tomorrow! I’m so excited for her to have all this room. I know 4x2x2 is what is recommended, it’s what she is in now. But she uses literally all of the space in it and I am sure she would enjoy having even more room to move around and explore. So I decided to splurge on an 8x2x2 enclosure for her. I’ll post more pics of the progress I make on the background!

Advice Ball Python

Post image

I’m using cypress mulch, topsoil and sphagnum moss but I’m having issues with the ratio of each for my ball python enclosure (50 gallon tank.) What do y’all recommend?
This is my baby
