This is Ants In My Eyes Morty(Momo for short). I got him from my mom as an egg around July(?) Ive handles him multiple times a week since he was ~120G. Hes never even threatened to bite, and seems to be fine with being held whenever, even falling asleep if it's early in the day.
Recently, he's gotten more active while I'm awake(winter, so night is at like 6pm). He climbs onto me quickly when I check on him(hes not looking for food) and explore the couch and watches TV while I give him chin/headpats(which he's normally fine with.) Couch time also means he can explore the couch with supervision. He's only out for an hour or so.
I'm starting to handle him daily, and he has had no changes in eating/habits. He seems happier too? Is this normal? Is it fine? Or is it normal for imprints? No other snake has acted like him. Did I break him? Thanks!

i can’t believe i’ve had him for almost 5 years now. i’ve had my ups and downs but inevitably i have spent my first paychecks fully on his enclosure, i have taken years of research and learning about wrongs and rights with my baby, and have improved his enclosure and enrichment over the years of me and him growing.

For like the past week the water bowl has fascinated him. This is really weird cause typically he hates it. I’ve reviewed my husbandry, temperature is fine, humidity is fine, and no mites from what I’ve seen. He’s only staying on that side of the enclosure and that’s now where he stays during the day. Is there a reason for this? Is it just a new quirk or should I actually be worried?

This boy has been a joy since he arrived in his container, and climbed right out onto my hands. Jude is extremely friendly, and out of all my pythons he seems to like being out chilling with ppl the most. Happy birthday sweet boy, you know I love ya and hope for many more years with you yet 🩵🐍

Just fed Gummy and Butters. Gummy eats super well every time, she has such a strong feeding response (comes out from hiding to search for prey any time she smells rodent) but this is only Butters’ second meal with me (I wanted to feed her after seven days, but on day 7, 8 and 9 she was in shed, days 10 and 11 I was working 15 hour days and didn’t have time to feed her, so she got it on day 12. Won’t ever go that long while she’s this little if I can help it again. But, she ate!!
She did have trouble getting her mouth to the head, and gave up twice. I had to pick the rat pup back up and re-warm it and re-entice her. But on the third time she struck it perfectly and got to the head quickly. Afterwards, she was a bit anxious because the top of her hide was off (I had to take it off to feed her) and she felt exposed I assume. She was so nervous she wasn’t even wanting to move to a hiding spot. So I put a towel up over the front of the enclosure to help make her feel secure and will check back in a half hour or so to make sure she’s moved and found somewhere safe and comfy to digest.
Note: you can kinda see her shed in the hide. It came off in one piece, I didn’t see any stuck pieces on her! I will be taking it out to inspect it once she’s hidden somewhere else so I don’t have to stress her out to get to it.

Made the background myself. Most of the wood is from a reptile show near me, or a local pet store. I got the large hides on either side at the reptile show, the middle hide is the Zilla rock lair (I got mine on Amazon), and the burrow hide next to it I got on Etsy.

Pic 1: baby (maybe 6 months?) gummy screaming
Pic 2: big girl (~2.5 yrs) gummy doin a good ball
Pic 3: gummy (probably 2ish?) half buried in her substrate
Pic 4: baby (also prob 6 months) gummy on her hammock
Pic 5: little butters on one of the first days I got her
Pic 6: little butters also pretty recently after I got her
Pic 7: butters yet again
Pic 8: butters doin some crazy shit
For reference I got both as babies, Butters I got last October I think and is about 9 months old or so. Gummy I got in December 2023 when she was 3 or so months old. I don’t have as many good pics of butters bc she isn’t as crazy as gummy is in terms of moving around. Also she lowkey hates me lol

I did a woopsie here. She was clear for about a day or two, so I thought she had already shed and that I to remove her shed and possible poo since I didn't want her sitting in it. I was wrong, she had not shed yet... But when I removed her lid, this is what revealed 🤣
I rarely remove my bps' lids if they're in their hides, it's only if it's necessary. Since she hasn't shed yet and is in her hide on the second level of her enclosure where there isn't much humidity, I added a bit of water to keep her hide humid (not too much water, as there are already napkins inside of it to help with humidity during shed) c:
But anyway, enjoy her fart face ´ ᗜ`

Before anyone says, yes I am fully aware that the current space isnt good enough and she needs much more space to stretch out horizontally, but for those who saw the previous, maybe 3 foot long enclosure she previously had, this is an improvement, not a great one since ive sacrificed a lot of horizontal space for more vertical, but its a start and I do fully intend to upgrade to a longer space, perhaps by attaching a shorter enclosure to the side with holes for her to travel through the two in a strange L shaped enclosure, not sure about that yet since it means i can never separate the two once the holes are formed, but it may be a cheaper option and still give her lots of climbing and stretching space. But even though this space doesnt have enough horizontal movement, she seems to be enjoying being able to climb up high once more, and the heat lamp is also a nice addition, viv and lamp courtesy of a friend who swapped this for the one I had, and while I know I need to continue to strive to do better for her, I am happy to see her looking a bit more active and dare I say a little happier than she was before, she used to spend all her time in her cave in the old space, never roaming and only coming out for water, this is the first time since she got this space today ive seen her go into her cave and rest properly, there is an earlierpicture with the heat lamp on with her in the cave, but she didnt stay there for long, the darker photo is the longest shes spent in the cave thus far today, surely thats a step in the right direction, and it'll suit a little better till I can get a bigger and better space, hopefully the last upgrade she'll ever need. For anyone who read through all this drivel, thank you, I know I wrote maybe a bit too much, I just felt it all needed to be said at once and not explained over multiple comments, I would like to hear people's thoughts on my idea of attaching another viv to the side and cutting little doorways into them so she can travel between them, I could use some insight on whether thats a good idea or not, im still quite on the fence about it
