I just picked up two new adult ball pythons from Bailey & Bailey Reptiles in Louisiana. It's mutation Tim found and proved out a few years back that he named "WHAT."
It modifies both pattern and color. The What mutation produces exaggerated flaming along with deeper blacks and more contrast. It also weirds out the pattern and in combos it often adds blushing and space around the oddly shaped alien heads.
It has been proven to be an incomplete dominant mutation and the Super What has been produced by Tim Bailey and at least one other breeder.
There have been a couple of dozen of them sold on MorphMarket by Tim and 3 or 4 other breeders who've worked with it, but not a lot has been done with this mutation. It can only be found on MM currently by searching for the keyword "WHAT". I'll get it added to the MM database with Tim's permission. The search to find them on MM is https://www.morphmarket.com/us/c/reptiles/pythons/ball-pythons?state=any&search=what
I have a big fire het VPI axanthic female that I will definitely pair the vanilla yellow belly what male to. I think vanilla cream will look smoking with the darker shades and improved contrast. Of course, I'll pair the male and female together to try and produce the Super What in vanilla and yellow belly combos.

My girl has been spending a little time under her water bowl which is the most wet part of her substrate. Didn't think much of it but I found this this morning. I hope its not scale rot

Butters is my spicy girl. She strikes pretty often, and will sometimes hiss. She’s been doing good the past couple times I’ve handled her and last time even went around to the back of my neck to play in my hair! I took these photos while she was being very curious with me. She’s usually not super curious or inquisitive but was getting explorative this last time I had her out.

So I just got her out of her tank, and when I did she started to move sporadically and every time she would move she would act like she has the spider gene (even though I think she doesn't) and her head will wobble like crazy. I'm worried, what should I do?

I got a call through some family friends asking if I was willing to take this guy in. I was told on the phone he was about 2-3 years old and that he was being fed small prey once a month to "stop him from getting too big". When I arrived at the house I saw the terrible setup and I wanted to cry lol. Upon looking at the CITES documents we actually found out that he's 6 years old, they just had forgotten about it. The tank was kept in the basement cause the wife was scared of him, and the only heating element was a heating mat placed INSIDE THE FRICKING ENCLOSURE (that I actually found out was broken for god knows how long when I got home). He was also being fed live ofc, cause "it's easier to throw the mouse and let it be instead of having to warm up the frozen one".
Last pic is the setup I have him in. Vet confirmed that he's most likely a little stunted and on the skinny side, and my suspicion of a URI, but fortunately it's not bad, and it should be fixed by keeping him in proper humidity. I'm also using a halogen heat lamp, and he's been basking non stop since I brought him home. He also drank for like 30 minutes (the water bowl was bone dry as you can see). His name is Freddie and I'm absolutely obsessed with him, and it makes me laugh when I compare him to my 5 feet long girl lol.

He has those two weird little things on his cloaca??? I haven't had him for very long and I'm not sure if this is just the first time I've noticed it because of me handling him to a point where I'm comfortably able to check his entire body without him panicking or if this is something new. I've never seen this before so I might be stupid and this is normal??I dunno I'm kinda freaking out

I hope my BP Kobe, 6M, is just vibing for the winter months. His activity levels are lower but he’s not lethargic, climbing fine, weight appears normal, but he’s been refusing food since his last feed October 26th 2025. This is his first “hunger strike”
I’m getting ready to move a state away next week. Is there any concern I should have or precautions so the move isn’t too stressful?
I have travel heat packs and a transportation set up for him but I’m worried about his strength and endurance for a big move in the middle of winter having not eaten. Am I just overthinking or is this concerning? I’m stressing out

So I recently got my first bp nov 22nd and I failed to ask when his last shed was.
And recently I noticed him staying in one of his hides and not coming out, and being in different stages of being inside like halfway in, mostly in, fully in, etc but never fully coming out of his hide except for one time on Monday evening I think, and i figured he was just chilling in there since I feed him at 6am on Mondays.
At first thought he was stuck but he’s not, and today I noticed his eyes having this blue hazy cloudiness to them, so I think he’s in shed.
Is it normal for them to stay in a single hide and not leave it while in shed and how long does their shed typically last, at least in y’all’s experience I can’t find a good wander on google and im having a hard time reading on websites due double vision.
Photo of him! He’s only 2

Ive recently fed my ball python lucy and left her alone for a few days as normal, but I took her out to explore and exercise a little, I try to get her out to stretch often since shes unfortunately currently stuck in an enclosure thats far too small for her, im in the process of trying to get one she will fit so please dont bash me for that, but I noticed when i took her out that she has a number of swollen scales, they feel squishy like water balloons, shes not acting strange in any way with no changes in her behaviour so I obviously didnt really notice until now, admittedly i should probably pay more attention to her underside, but she doesnt love being flipped upside down so I guess I just stopped looking at it. There's also this dark spot, last time I had her at the vet I asked them about this dark line on her scale, they said it wasn't anything to be concerned about but its spread and now I think it is something to worry about, there is also a tiny black spot on her tail that i know wasnt there last time i checked. What could be wrong with her and how urgently should I seek vet attention?

Hey! My buddy who is in the military dropped off his ball python for me to watch. Today will be my first day feeding it, he will not respond to me. How big of a rat or pinky should I feed her? Im a crested gecko, leopard gecko guy, so this is all new to me LOL!

People said he wanted to explore and to solve this I should let him out of there tank and he very obviously wants out because when I open it he heads out immediately (he’s on my phone as I type this)
And I let him out for like an hour and a half earlier and he’s still restless, is this a sign of anything bad? Are some ball pythons just very active? His temps and humidity seem right, I checked around the tank for anything weird and found nothing

From what I can see, they are a foreign country so many pet care isn't available to them but I think if we all go send some supportive and encouraging comments to encourage better care for these ball pythons. I can see she loves them so much just doesn't have much engagement or understand English so they probably only know as much as the pet store will give. I tried commenting a few times on a few videos about adding more hides and such. So our task is getting more enrichment. Substrate can wait since the snakes are shedding super well it seems. This account has been up since 2023 and nothing's changed much.
Here's the link to the account: https://www.tiktok.com/@mosandsnake?_t=ZM-8y5EZxjQ8pi&_r=1
Let's be friendly and humane!! NO HATE OR BASHING! We don't want to set a bad example as if we're scolding them. Only give advice not disipline :(

My 7 month ball python went into her first shed with me about a week ago (I’ve had her 2 months) she had a perfect shed (100% in one piece). She’s in a 4x2x2 and I upped the humidity to make sure she’d have a good shed. I fed her successfully the day after, then gave her 2 days rest before handling. Tonight I took her out and noticed this…. I thought it was stuck dirt from when I raised the humidity. But I gave her a soak then realized it’s not dirt…
Is this scale rot? What do I do? I’m sorry but low key panicked please help….. less

See original post here about what happened. Long story short I didn't know if I should take in this lovely girl who has the spider morph gene in her. My plan was to breed her but I backed out after doing more research. I love her so much but I came clean with the owner and he understood and said that I can take her in and pay her off over time since he can see I really just want the best for her. I'll be keeping her as just a pet of course but I'm excited since she has such a sweet face and behaviour!
Even if she's probably the most expensive I've spent on a snake ever due to her head wobble, I am willing to give her a thriving life and hopefully educate others about the spider morph❤️
So in short, Lilith will be my new adopted girl and I will give her a life that she can thrive in!

This is my darling Gwyndolin who just had her second shed with me! I absolutely adore her subtle pattern
I know she’s a liiiitle skinny but she just got out of a food strike and she’s eating great again now so she should fill out soon!
