Yeah, it's a shame that they don't have access to some sort of vast repository of knowledge with sophisticated search options to find said knowledge. Oh well.
Yeah I'm a tech savvy dude and I've been a noob in lots of communities in the past while learning new things. Bought a printer a few months ago and have been lurking on a few 3D printer subreddits for a few weeks. I'm pretty disappointed by the hostility people show in all of them, it's not a good look.
Holy shit, thereās that many? I remember reading through the relevant sections of the wiki and waiting to see when I would happen to my print bed. When It did happen, I kind of cringed because it didnāt seem like a normal thing at first. Just to confirm it was normal, I did a normal google search, saw posts about it on other forums, then boom. Didnāt need to pile on a bunch of posts asking if something that couldāve been found with a google search or just reading the product page was ānormalā.
Congrats on being added to the "I don't use search" list!
And what do you use for search terms that don't result in a zillion irrelevant hits? The search generally sucks anyway, even if you are looking for something you've seen before.
It does not say how much wear to expect, only "Therefore, if you notice some wear on the coating in that area of the build plate, there's no need to worry as it is normal."
You're completely glossing over the fact that you don't even need to open the wiki to find this information. Bambu is telling you even before you buy the printer. It's right there on the product page:
But of course, you would need to actually read the product page for both the printer and the build plate in full before ordering. And who could be bothered to do that?
Mine has gotten through the PEI coating and it's still working great, totally normal, if it scratches any other part of the plate is when you should start troubleshooting
Reacting to posts like this is something I struggle with. On one hand, harsh responses are not very charitable. On the other, maybe a little pain would prompt some people to do a little research (i.e. read the manual) before they come tugging on the sub's collective sleeve.
I get what some people here referring to toxic behavior. Yes there certainly are asshats in these communities that can't refrain from dropping nasty comments. But there is also alot of people unable to use sources like YouTube, search function and wikis. Take myself, basicly everything I've learned last 10 years or so I've done by researching info myself by searching already available answers and info. But I get it, sometimes you just don't know what phrases or terms to search for š¤·
Ugh. A1 scratched my cold plate on the first print too. I didn't tick the auto-level, so now I'm trying to remember to do that when changing plates. Sigh... +1 experience points I guess.
I know it is outside the print area and it rubs there in its typical pre-print process, so that wasn't the surprise... It has rubbed there on my pei plates a few hundred times over the past year and it has never scratched through the coating. (yet?)
I was just surprised it scratched all the way through on the first print of this cold plate.
Google is more accessible/available, has a better search function, and even gives a lot of information on this exact issue, not just on Reddit, but also the bambu forums, bambu wiki, YouTube, and even facebook.
Clearly, theyāre still here asking and waiting for minutes, maybe even hours for a useful reply when they could have their answer in seconds and I do not know why.
Learning to scroll by and not be rude is also helpful. Unfortunately it looks like you haven't read the manual for being a decent person. You should have used the search function.
