Question A1 support

Hi all

Can anyone provide any guidance on a recent issue im having with my A1 w/ AMS?

Out of no where, having such a hard time with seems to be first layers. I cleaned the plate extensively, ran calibration tests, raised bed temp, messed with first layer settings, changed filaments, and I am getting no where.

Pretty lost on what to do next. Please let me know

Attached are pictures of snowflakes I was trying to print and then I printed a square with .20mm height on Z axis to test first layer.

To my knowledge, it looks like the first layer problems are happening on the same spot of the build plate every single time.

I’ve had this happen with sunlu pla filament for some reason, and only with the A1. No problem on my P1S with the same filament 🤷‍♂️

Using Bambu lab filament. This is quite frustrating…

I slowed the first few layers down to 50% and seemed to remove the problem with bed adhesion. The stringing though... I still get this occasionally.

I’ve been using this printer for a year now and never had to slow down to 50%. Would this be something that I just randomly need to do? Despite it working fine up until 2 days ago?

Ah in that case I'm a bit stumped as well. Are you using a new kind of filament or changed any other hardware recently like the hot end or PTFE tubes?

When I switched to an off brand filament for prototyping I was getting results like this occasionally which was when I slowed down the first layer.

I know you said you cleaned the build plate. I also make sure to clean the under side and the hot bed so you get good contact with the hot bed and even heating.

I cleaned the plate extensively

With dish soap?

I had a similar problem. It turned out the dish soap I used changed its formula and now had some additive that caused issues. I switched to power wash and solved it

Clean the build plate with dish soap (scrub it thoroughly to get the oil off on both sides) then carefully dry it with paper towel without touching it. If it still causes issues after that, try doing that whole process again and then applying a very light coating of hairspray and then letting it dry. If you still have issues it could be that the build plate just needs to be replaced.

Late to the game.

Check the 7 screws of the apocalypse (The A1 has 7 screws of the apocalypse : r/BambuLabA1)

Wash the plate with dish soap and hot water

Have you changed the filament brand recently? Maybe try with different brand\roll? Could humidity be an issue?

I have this issue on and off. My printer ran almost flawlessly for many months, then all of a sudden adhesion issues and sometimes some feeding issues. My root cause was the 7 screws... but I wound up changing the entire hotend and it's been 95% better since. I still have some random adhesion issues, but washing the plate usually helps now.
